About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live wisely

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in China, and have been living in Canada for close to 10 years now. This is probably the place I'd call home more than my birth place. I've acquired the most important life skills and education as well as hobbies in North America, I really appreciate the opportunity to be living in such a peaceful and friendly society.

I'm currently a graduate student in Cognitive Neuroscience. I spend most of my time on campus, in the lab reading and doing research. My hobbies include reading, exercising, playing accordion, sketching, exploring places I've never been to, and getting to know intelligent people.

I enjoy camping very much, both at campgrounds and in outback. Quietness of the night, brightness of the stars bring the uttermost sense of serenity.

Meeting people and getting to know their lifestyle and culture is another thing that comes with traveling. I would never forget how kind and helpful my hosts were to me when I backpacked Germany solo 2 years ago. This experience gave me confidence and inspired me to travel further and explore more.

Let's share stories and get to know each other in the process...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests

Language! I picked German, it's rather hard, but sounds very hot, haha, at least to me it is! The progress is slow, but at least I would like to think it's progressing. I'm hoping to be able to do my doctoral or post-doctoral research in a German university since Germany is origin of many fields of psychology.

I read a lot, well, a lot of suspense when I was in China, I love suspense movies as well, not graphic horror, I love the movies that keep you wondering what would happen at the end, and I love surprises! I read Salinger's the catcher in rye in high school as required reading, but I found a connection with Holden, about how phony everyone is. Then I grew up, moved out of home, deal with everything by myself, I realized that the cynicism only lives in the heart of the immature. The meaning of life for me is, be the person you want to be, treat people the way you want to be treated, be respectful, meet like minded people. On top of that, be sympathetic about things you can't change, also be optimistic and open-minded to difference.

I'm soooooo curious, there are so many things that I want to learn, diving, snowboarding, hiking, camping, hitch hiking, you name it. I want to break through the ordinary and enter the extraordinary, to learn about things I have yet to see, meet interesting people that I can learn from.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to great wall in China, the part that wasn't under constant reconstruction, there were only a total 20ish people altogether I saw on the day I went, completely empty. I sensed history without the disturbance of human, that was a good experience.

Mammoth area in Northern California is amazing. They've got everything I could ever ask for from scenic nature.

I haven't been travelling much, but the sunset you see while in the mountains, the temples, just purifies my heart, in peace with nature, love that!
