Overview
About Me
Hard to believe, but I've now spent almost 10 of my 36 years on this earth living in Japan, half a globe away from my home in the 'burbs of DC. I pay the bills mostly by translating Japanese to English.
I've been all up and down the east coast of North America, from Toronto to Miami, but really picked up travelling when I moved out to Japan in 2006. I've seen a bunch of Asia and took a trip around the globe shortly after getting married in 2012. We now have a son, so the trips are mostly more local these days.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because people are one of the best part of traveling, and you don't meet new/local people in a hotel.
Interests
Lately, I've been doing more cycling, running, hiking... basically active stuff.
I love cooking and will definitely cook if you ask, whether it be Maryland crab soup, oyakodon, or shakshuka.

Music, Movies, and Books
Last book I read: Your Money or Your Life
Music: New Wave stuff, older soul/funk/Motown, jazz-influenced hip-hop (Nujabes, Madlib, ATCQ), Drum n' Bass, bossanova, samba... I'm all over the place.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Did a RTW trip with the wife in 2012, sort of as a honeymoon (although we also cheated and took a honeymoon).
