About Me
insta: @tolgahancavdar
I’m a 25-year-old local living in Istanbul. I work full-time (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM) in the renewable energy sector and live alone in my own apartment, close to my office.
I’m really passionate about languages and cultures — I speak fluent English and a bit of Spanish, and I love learning about music, history, and geography from different parts of the world. I’m a big fan of rap music, especially Eminem and Kanye West.
I know a lot about Turkish history and culture, and I’d love to help tourists discover more than just the typical spots. Istanbul is huge — even I haven’t explored every corner yet — so it’s always fun to discover new places together.
I don’t expect anything in return — I just believe in real hospitality, cultural exchange, and good conversation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I don’t have many chances to travel abroad at the moment, but I love connecting with people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds.
and also, to show the truth that Turkish hospitality is a real thing!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I memorized the full lyrics of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” before I even spoke fluent English — it actually helped me improve my language skills.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some basic Turkish phrases, local customs, and the true meaning of Turkish hospitality.
I also enjoy sharing what I know about Istanbul’s history and culture — and if you're into rap music, I can talk for hours about Eminem and Kanye West!
I can also help you practice English or talk about how it’s used in everyday Turkish life.
-
I'm curious about different cultures, historical perspectives, and how people live and think in other parts of the world.
-
I believe the best part of traveling is the people you meet and share some moments.
