Hi! My name is Tom and I’m an EFL teacher from Newcastle, England.

I’m very social and easy-going. If you host me and have free time, I’d love to spend time together and get to know you. If you’re busy, I’m also very happy to go out and explore on my own.

I’m a non-smoker, a vegetarian and I don’t drink alcohol, but I don’t care if you do!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and I think that couch-surfing is the perfect way to meet locals and make friends quickly!

Unfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity to host any couchsurfers myself but it is something I’d really love to do in the future when I eventually get my own place that is big enough!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading and watching films/TV, especially thriller/crime/mystery and also some regular dramas. I also love horror (anything with zombies!) and also some sci-fi. My favourite show is Doctor Who!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived abroad 3 times in my life. Most recently, I spent 2 years working in Shanghai, China. I also spent 1 year working and travelling in Australia, and a few months volunteering in Nepal.

I ran a full marathon (26.2 miles) and 3 half-marathons (13.1 miles). I have been skydiving 3 times and bungee jumping twice, as well as having done the highest cliff jump in the world!

I studied linguistics at university and I have 2 years of experience working as an EFL teacher, so I’m very knowledgable about the English language if you are learning it as a foreign language. If interested, I am also happy to teach some basic BSL (British Sign Language).
