Hi! My name is Tom. I’m 26 years old and I’m from Newcastle, England. I have lived in Shanghai since October 2023.

I’m very social and easy-going. If you host me, I’ll be very happy to spend time together, get to know you and explore the area, depending on your schedule and how much free time you have. However, I’m also very comfortable doing things on my own if you’re busy!

Side note: I don’t eat meat, I don’t smoke and I don’t drink alcohol (but I don’t mind if you do!)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and I think that couch-surfing is the perfect way to meet locals and make friends quickly!

Unfortunately, my current apartment in Shanghai is far too small to host any couchsurfers myself but it’s something I really want to do in the future when I eventually move into somewhere bigger!

I love reading fiction, especially mystery, crime and thriller books. I’m always happy to hear recommendations!

Similarly, I love watching crime drama and thriller TV shows and films, as well as anything horror! My favourite shows are Doctor Who and The Walking Dead.

I have lived abroad 3 times in Australia, Nepal and now China.

I ran a full marathon (26.2 miles) and 3 half-marathons (13.1 miles). I have been skydiving 3 times and bungee jumping twice, as well as having done the highest cliff jump in the world!

I am an experienced ESL teacher and studied linguistics at university, so I’m very knowledgable about English if you are learning it as a foreign language. If interested, I am also happy to teach some basic BSL (British Sign Language).
