About Me
Hi! My name's Tom Fielding, I'm 18 and hopefully looking to use couchsurfing for some amazing adventures next year. I consider myself to be a very laid-back and compassionate and I have a very deep love for music- by the time I decide to kick my heels against the road and go travelling I'll probably only have my guitar but I also play the piano and bass pretty well. My favourite things to do are to play my guitar, drinking and playing videogames
After travelling (or perhaps before for a while) I have aspirations to train as a mental health nurse or while working up to this working in healthcare to make a little money before I leave.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I decided to try this out because I have plans of travelling next year- my girlfriend (whom I may or may not be Couchsurfing with) is highly critical of the idea and would rather stay in a hostel but after watching a TED x talk including Couchsurfing I believe it would give me a pretty authentic travel experience. I believe Couchsurfing will lead to intense and more rewarding travel experiences in involving people that live in different cultures- in other words I think you can learn something new from everyone you meet!!
Ultimately, I'm looking to make lasting friendships and hopefully make a difference in someone's life and vice versa.

Music, Movies, and Books
In terms of Music I'd find it pretty difficult to talk about because I have such a broad taste- I like to listen to a lot of smaller bands that are less popular but I also really like Muse, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Tame Impala etc... I guess I'm mainly into punk rock/garage music with a cool lo-fi vibe to it
Here's some music i've made https://soundcloud.com/tomfieldin
I'm not much of a movie buff but my favourite movies are probably 2001: A Space Oddysey, Fight Club or Requiem for a Dream
Sadly I don't read much anymore- I've read a lot by George Orwell and particularly enjoyed 1984 and I'm currently working my way through My Life by Leon Trotsky and a History of Time by Stephen Hawking (although struggling with the latter!)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Played on the main stage on one of the largest free music festivals in Europe quite local to me- Monmouth Festival after coming second place in a busking competition. This was my first real live performance and it was in front of about 500 people, it was crazy!
