About Me

I was a retail supervisor and ice climbing instructor in a Mountain Sports shop in London, but have since quit to do some extensive travelling with my girlfriend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My girlfriend Abbé (pictured) and I are travelling across the United States from January to July in 2016 on a tight budget. We have some family in Oregon, California and Canada but otherwise have limited places to stay other than campsites. Abbé is not too keen on the idea of bears, thus camping isn't always an option.

I have couch surfed in the past with friends in Chamonix in France and Rjukan in Norway and have loved the experience of getting to know new people, new cultures and have enjoyed the company that I believe makes "proper travelling".

When we have a place of our own, we'd love to share it with guests.

Interests

Entirely by coincidence, most of my hobbies begin with the letter c: climbing (ice and rock) and the outdoors in general, cycling, cooking (particularly curries), cricket, classical music, cheese and coffee. Plus a little bit of American Football.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - prog rock and classical music are particular favourites, also partial to country, the rock/alternative spectrum as a whole, ska, soul amongst others .
Movies - no particular favourites, open to persuasion.
Books - Catch 22 andJane Eyre are two I believe everyone should read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycled from London to Rome carrying all equipment on the bike. The Grand St Bernard is no picnic when your bike weighs 40kg.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a keen musician and can play a variety of instruments (guitar, keyboards, drums, a bit of banjo). I am always up for a jam and keen to learn new styles with new people.

I can be a useful climbing/belay partner, happy to lead up to 6c (5.10d US) sport and WI4 ice routes.

I am also handy in the kitchen and am happy to cook when staying with hosts.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, United States
