About Me
Hi there :)
I'm currently a software developer living and working full time in Leeds with my girlfriend Sandra. You can see her profile here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/sandra-berg-1
We recently travelled for sixth months across the US, New Zealand and parts of South East Asia. Along the way we Couchsurfed with many awesome, friendly people and now that we're settled into a flat in Leeds, it is the perfect time to pay the kindness forward!
Over the last few months, I've been getting into some different sports including running and bouldering. If you visit us, it'd be awesome for you to come along. Those around on Saturday mornings can come to one of the local Parkruns with us! (Google it if you don't know what it is :D)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's fantastic to be able to meet and make friends with people from all over the world. I've had a lot of fun hanging out with fellow CS'ers, sharing stories or maybe having a beer together. Maybe we can to.
Interests
I spend an unhealthy amount of time watching films and listening to music, but I ramble on about that below so won't mention it here.
Programming is my passion, which is lucky because that's what I do for a living. Maths and philosophy are also fascinating.
Sport has never appealed to me, but I have been really into cycling in the past, and now love going for long walks.

Music, Movies, and Books
Films: I watch waaaay too many films. Some of my favourite directors include Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson. Lately, I've also been trying to branch out to some more classic directors, such as Andrei Tarkovsky, Akira Kurosawa, and Alfred Hitchcock, as part of my goal of watching the IMDB top 250. We often watch films with Couchsurfers and always love to get recommendations.
Music: My taste is a little weird. If I had to pick one genre, it would probably be prog rock, but I've worked my way through everything from dubstep, to metal, to classical. I feel that every form of music can yield something interesting if you look hard enough!
Books: 'The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy' is my all time favourite book. Other favourites include 'Sophie's World' and 'Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance'. Nowadays, if I get around to reading something, it's often nonfiction and mainly about programming.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I travelled for sixth months with Sandra without ever really planning much in advance, and Couchsurfed along the way. We saw places like the Grand Canyon, experienced a total eclipse, watched lava flow across the ground in front of us and so many more amazing things.
Teach, Learn, Share
I always want to learn more about the countries people have lived in or travelled to. Tell me about some! If you like films, we should totally nerd about them together.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you want somewhere nice to go for food or drinks, I might be able to recommend some places. We also like to cook with guests. If you're feeling sporty, we can do some climbing or running together.
