I grew up in Manukau, New Zealand and have roots in Marlborough (Blenheim, Nelson) and Waikato (Rotorua, Taupo). While I spent most of my years very close to Auckland City, I have many child hood memories visiting family in lake Taupo, Rotorua, Blenheim and Marlborough Sounds.

Somehow I fell into a career as a Chef, perhaps from my interest in culture and ethnic foods - and, hey, we have to eat don't we? It is a profession that has opened up many opportunities along the way. I am currently working as an international seafarer and chef on a large private motor yacht. I cook for the crew day by day and in return get to experience a life on the sea, and get to visit places I likely wouldn't have the opportunity to on my own.

I like to keep my mind and life reasonably open and take opportunities as they come - as a result I am lucky to experience many environments, learn new skills, and meet amazing people along the way.

I am quite an active person, and draw my energy from the outdoors. I love to hike/run/climb trails/mountains/forests, I love mountain biking and am slowly building my skills, I have also been enjoying diving in as many waters as I can while I travel. I find peace and happiness and energy in nature. I am looking forward to hitting the slopes next winter to get some boarding in.

A friend I met in Norway recommended Couchsurfing not only as a way to travel on a budget, but especially to meet big hearted, like minded people around the globe. And to get a view of their life, and share passions and experiences.
I thought that sounded pretty good ;)
