À propos de moi

A soul on a path with a heart.

Originally from Manchester, UK, I moved to Ireland 12yrs ago to be nearer to the ocean (for surfing).

I can host most days unless I’m travelling, and live in 'The Best Place to Live in Ireland', a lovely little town called Westport. My cottage is a 10min drive from Westport town, 25mins by bike or an hour walk.

PLEASE NOTE: I can arrange to pick you up from Westport, and expect a contribution of €5/trip towards fuel as this is a cost that adds up very quickly, especially if I am hosting five days a week!

I own a natural wine bar, here in Westport, and I’m also a Warmshowers host, so there's a chance you'll meet other travellers during your visit, or make other new friends in my bar.

I like meeting new people and making new friends. I like scrabble, photography and I’m just getting into podcasting.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

To meet new people and make new friends from around the world. To learn more about other people and cultures and to enjoy experiencing new places from a locals perspective, and participate in this dance of life with other interesting people!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Jazz, funk, soul, reggae, there's soooo much music I like, and can happily recommend playlists as well as look forward to learning more about other music…

I used to DJ, and still play records in my bar, things like; Pete Josef, Polynation, Kaleema, Khruangbin, Brownswood Recordings, 70's funk and soul, 80's street soul, Studio One and scratch-out's from Jamaica. Classics like Cat Stevens and Van Morrison, Eartha Kitt, Ella, Nina Simone, The Dean and many, many more.

I love to read and have a free ‘mini library’ at my bar and also sell vinyl records and second hand books! I like books on personal development, metaphysics, nature and trees, poetry (Rumi, Kibran, Wordsworth, Milligan) and culture etc.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

www.thegallerywestport.com

I’m happy to have been able to use my skills to create a lovely laid back business, where I get to meet guests from all over the world, whilst promoting soil health, ethical food and good vibes!

One of my best accomplishments was a decision to get to know myself, remove the layers of social and media conditioning and practice Qigong and meditation, this of course, as a human, is an ongoing process!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can help teach you about photography, including taking shots, what the settings do etc, as well as editing processes, also DJ skills, mixing, scratching using vinyls and a little bit on Ableton.

I am open to learn about different cultures and about your home town and your travels and how collectively, we can help create more kindness in the world.

I'd love to share and learn more about healing, mediation and also travel tips and advice for future adventures!

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

My home, information about natural wines and food producers here in Ireland, my interest in photography, local tours as well as taking my guests surfing, biking or hiking.

HOUSE RULES FOR GUESTS STAYING AT THE COTTAGE

Couchsurfing is a chance to experience interacting with other people and sometimes be able to share experiences with their friends, house mates etc, or to go and visit places and do things together to experience life in other cultures!

It is an opportunity to learn from each other and showcase the best side of yourself, as if we are representing all humans to another species…

I am generous by nature but not a charity either. I expect you to contribute towards things, especially as I host a lot of people and things like fuel, food, heating etc adds up over the course of a season!

If you require a lift to or from the train/bus station in Westport, I would appreciate a voluntary contribution of €5 per trip. This is because fuel costs money and this cost adds up over time, especially if I am hosting people four of five times a week!

I offer my home, experiences and time, but I am NOT a taxi service, free cook or bed and breakfast, and expect guests to contribute towards things as they would with their friends.

If I take you surfing, you cover the cost of the wetsuit or board hire, I am not a charity!

Be polite, clean up after yourself, especially in the kitchen or bathroom, if I cook, you clean, if you cook, I clean…

Don’t go into anyone else’s room without their permission.

Act as though you are representing humans to another species!

Thanks!
