I grew up in the Scottish Highlands, where my nearest supermarket was 2.5 hours away by car - now I live in central London where the nearest shop is 2.5 steps away.......I have an enormous amount of affection for both places and would recommend anyone who visits the UK to see both. My life in London is not one of quiet peacefulness that my family up north enjoy - it is a very frantic and exciting experience....I probably work too many hours (I'm a data scientist working in Artificial Intelligence) - and then party too much on the weekends, and try and squeeze too many hobbies in between (Piano, Football, Salsa, Drumming) - but I do rather enjoy it. I love travelling and meeting new people and this website is probably the best discovery I've made this year.

I am brand spanking new to the wonderful world of couch surfing and am soon to be embarking upon my first adventure to the US.....I had the realisation that the best way for me to enjoy my trip and to really get to know the country is to get involved and actually meet people in their every day lives. It would be all too easy to just book hostels. hotels and airbnb's for this trip but I wouldn't be giving my self the same exposure to what really makes a country what it is.

By nature people on this website are going to be extremely open minded and interesting - and I am very much looking forward to sharing some stories!!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

A few years ago I was chosen to be on a reality TV experiment where all of my possessions were taken away from me for 21 days. Now when I say all of my possessions, I really do mean ALL my possessions - they took everything - curtains, bed, washing machine, oven , clothes......everything. Each day I was allowed to chose one thing back - naturally the first thing I chose was a sleeping bag.....sleeping naked on the cold hard floor in the middle of winter isn't the best nights sleep! I tried to use the experience to teach myself how to be more producitve - so I chose not to have back my phone, TV and Laptop in an attempt to try and read more and play more piano......my experiment worked with varying degrees of success - I certainly read and played a lot more during the show.....but it wasn't long after the 21 days had ended that I fell back into bad habits of spending too much time on my bloody phone!!!
