Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It all started when I was interrailing round Europe and forgot my train ticket like an idiot, so had to find somewhere to stay fast. I had a great time staying with a local who showed me around Amsterdam, and since then I've been surfing all over the world, from Iceland to Korea to India and beyond! I always love finding out about local culture, food, language and history and getting to make friends in any country I visit, and want to give couchsurfers the same experience here in the UK :)

Interests

I'm big into anime, music making, and dnd. Just a massive nerd in general.

I play a variety of instruments, such as sitar, cello and mandolin, but am a singer and songwriter first and foremost 😊 I create music videos sometimes, and am currently writing a soundtrack for my dnd game. I also custom built a couple of my own original instruments, including a chromatic kalimba.

I studied history at university so always love talking history and politics, especially finding out about other people's countries through couchsurf. Before becoming a nurse I taught History and English, as well as teaching kids with disabilities for 6 years.

Its my all time dream to drive from Chile to Alaska by campervan on the Pan-American highway.

Music, Movies, and Books

TV: big into anime 😌 my favourite shows are probably attack on titan, avatar the last airbender, evangelion, death note and jujutsu kaisen in that order :)
Also love dramas like breaking bad/better call Saul and the sopranos

Music: Radiohead and Jeff Buckley are my two all time favs, but I love music from all genres from indie folk to rnb and soul to metal! Always love hearing new stuff from other countries, so please share your music taste with me and I'll share back in return

Books: I'm purely an audiobook guy, I enjoy any fantasy or sci fi, I think my all time favourite has to be the first Dune novel. But looking for new recommendations as my reading list is running dry haha

Movies: Love watching cult and art films at local cinemas, but a sucker for classic fantasy and sci fi, star wars, lord of the rings, stuff like that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen an active volcano erupting in Iceland (pictured.) Surfed in Hawaii, snowboarded in Canada, cruised through the Ganges Delta in India and swum with dolphins in the Bolivian Amazon.

Teach, Learn, Share

The red supergiant star Betelgeuse is due to explode into a supernova very soon by cosmic standards. It could well ignite in our lifetime, filling the sky with a light as bright and big as a second moon, visible during the daytime.
The building of the pyramids was further in the past to the ancient romans than the ancient romans are to us! Also there were still mammoths living in Russia when the pyramids were being built.
