Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm a soon-to-be music student on a gap year. Currently travelling around France with my cousin Anna. I love creative activities, friendly company, and learning about other cultures and lifestyles. I consider myself to be thoughtful and helpful, with a good sense of humour!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As Anna and I have travelled around the South of France, we've really enjoyed the experience of staying with local people and getting a flavour of daily life in a different country. It's been a great way to soak up a new lifestyle and culture, make new friends, and share tips and advice for what to do locally. And it's so much more relaxed and friendly than staying in a hotel or hostel!
Interests
In my free time, I like to play my instruments - I play guitar, piano, drums and percussion. I'm an avid reader, and spend most of my time reading the online music press (Pitchfork and The Guardian are my favourites), though I'd like to try and read more novels. Really, I'm passionate about culture in general, from visual arts to theatre and stand-up.
I enjoy spending time with friends, socialising and nights out. My favourite sports include cycling and swimming, and I'm a fan of long walks.
I also co-host a weekly podcast, The Dom & Tom Podcast, on Soundcloud. Check it out!

Music, Movies, and Books
At the moment:
- I'm listening to David Bowie, Sly and the Family Stone, PJ Harvey, Björk, Courtney Barnett, Captain Beefheart, Sonic Youth and Mac DeMarco
- I'm reading 'God Help the Child' by Toni Morrison and 'The Music Instinct' by Philip Ball
- And the last two films I watched in the cinema were 'Anomalisa' (Charlie Kaufman) and 'The Hateful Eight' (Tarantino)!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, last week, I saw a woman playing a clarinet while standing on a moving horse. That was pretty crazy.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to give lessons on my instruments, or teach you about music in general. I'm always eager to improve my French-speaking, so any help with that would be greatly appreciated. And I love meeting fellow musicians to jam with!
What I Can Share with Hosts
As a waiter, I'm good at cleaning, tidying, and washing up after meals. I'm an amateur in the kitchen, but I'm very happy to help with cooking in any way I can.
