ABOUT ME

I have been described as a bear cub. I usually like to play but sometimes I just eat and sleep.

PHILOSOPHY

Here are a few quotes that have stuck with me:

"I shall pass this way but once; any good, therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."

If there is a solution to the problem, there’s no need to worry about it. If there is not a solution, there’s nothing you can do, so also don’t worry.
-Buddhist Monk, 8th century

travel is fatal to prejudice
-Mark Twain

“For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.”
-Moses

"The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticisms."
--Norman Vincent Peale

Where there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence.
-Gandhi

"The mere impulse of appetite is slavery, while obedience to a law which we precribe to ourselves is liberty."
Jean-Jacque Rousseau

Every man is given the key to the gates of heaven. The same key opens the gates to hell.
-Buddhist poverb

"If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"
Solzhenitsyn

“No citizen has a right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training...what a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable." - Socrates

"So, if the world today has gone astray,
the cause lies in yourselves and only there!”
- Purgatorio

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking the Salkantay trail from Mollepata to Machu Picchu was incredible. The trail had some of the most beautiful and diverse vistas that I have ever seen. Within a single day I got rained on at 13,000 ft in the morning to snowed on at 15,000ft in the afternoon, and by the end of the day I was in a tropical climate putting on sunscreen. It was physically demanding and incredibly rewarding.
