G’day, my name is Tom, I’m from Melbourne, Australia and am currently abroad on a 4+ month trip through Europe and Scandinavia (writing this from Lake Garda, Italy). I finished studying Environmental Science in 2016 and have since been working with drones in environmental management (surveying, mapping & inspection etc).

I am a nature lover, it can do incredible things for the mind, any opportunity to get out in the wilderness, count me in. I feel more comfortable in the isolation of a remote natural environment than the hussle and bussle of a big city with millions of people.

I love meeting people, especially like minded people and attempting to solve the worlds problems in a single evening of conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel like couch surfing is the most authentic way of visiting a country. A genuine and kind person offering their home for a night or so, hopefully with the opportunity to show off/experience their country together. Theres no better way of experiencing the true culture of a city/town then with a local giving you their time and recommendations. I hope to make long lasting friendships and re-pay the favour whenever my fellow couchsurfing ‘mates’ are in Australia.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to lots of different music in various genres, however I would say that probably alternative/folk is where the majority of my favourite music lies. Music festivals are fun :) I don’t read much, and thats something im trying to change, help me ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove my 4WD troop carrier around Australia for 7 months with my dog, meeting and offering lifts to backpackers along the way. The best time of my life, there’s a few stories to be had there.
