About Me

Hey! I'm a recently graduated student with a few months free to travel. Though from the UK I live in the Netherlands now and am trying to learn Dutch. I love reading and hiking and have tried my hand at woodcarving, rugby and kickboxing, can't say I'm very good at those last three though :)

I enjoy exploring new places and getting out in nature, but I'm equally up for going to bars and clubs and experiencing the nightlife with people. Food is one of my biggest joys so I want to try anything in whichever places I'm staying! I also make a few cocktails, my favourites being a Bahama Mama or a Negroni, and love cooking for people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to travel to new places and meet interesting people before I start my working life. I spent some time in SE Asia and elsewhere but was not aware of Couchsurfing at the time, so mostly stayed in hostels with other travellers. By actually staying with locals I hope to really get to know people in the countries I'm staying and learn more about the area and the culture. The friendships and connections that are made are why I love travelling and I hope to make even more here on Couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

At home I listen to a lot of Oasis, Elton John and Biffy Clyro, but I really enjoy going to techno events, my favourite DJs being Boris Brejcha and Bicep.
The best movies of all time have to be Lord of the Rings, unquestionably. Indiana Jones and Goodfellas should get a mention though.
My favourite author is Terry Pratchett with his Discworld series, highly recommend. Also Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide) and Robert Rankin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had to get heart surgery last Summer, which was tough, but 5 weeks afterwards I still managed to travel to Berlin and then Munich to see friends at Oktoberfest. Just getting in and out of the bunk bed at the hostel was a challenge. Not even heart surgery stopped me travelling for long!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to make some classic British cuisine (it's not as bad as you think), I want to learn a language, and I can share travel stories (and hopefully make some more).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I travel quite light but if ever I'm staying with someone I can share my time getting to know them and where they live. I am also happy to cook for them and will of course clean and help around the house. I always try to bring a deck of cards and a game with me for us to play as well.
