About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To run a marathon in Japan or Israel.

ABOUT ME

I am just finishing my MSc in Computer Forensics and eDiscovery and plan to move to Auckland, New Zealand on the 15th of April on a 23 month working holiday visa. At first i'll be looking for any work but i hope to have some form of job in IT within the first 3 months. I like to think i'm a reasonably level headed easy going guy. I've traveled quite a bit, mostly on my own so I think i'm pretty good at getting around and having a good time in foreign countries by now.

PHILOSOPHY

Trying to get the most out of life by having a wide variety of interests and meeting lots of people. It's still important to have the odd lazy day on the journey though.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have mostly just couchsurfed in Sweden, Denmark, Canada, the USA and even in the UK once.
I have always lived in shared accommodation and have not been fortunate enough to live with others comfortable with inviting strangers into our home so my hosting has been limited. I did host an American guy a couple of years ago once at my parents.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had an amazing time couchsurfing doing a quick trip through Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Malmo and Copenhagen. Especially in Copenhagen! I have also mixed couchsurfing with hosteling in Canada. In Canada i couchsurfed in Calgary, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Edmonton, Winnipeg, New York and Montreal.

Interests

My main hobbies are Judo and general fitness - dabbling in running, weight training and circuits. I really enjoy travelling and hanging out with all kinds of people. I love hiking and taking trips where i'm constantly on the go seeing things and doing things. I think i'm the kind of person who will give most things a try. I really enjoy cooking and being cooked for! I occasionally read and like to listen to quite a variety of music. I like to keep up with current events, especially with regards to sport and technology.

I have some awareness of British and world politics and have some views but don't consider myself informed enough to feel comfortable debating it.

I'm definitely more of a pub person than a nightclub person but even more fond of finding a mutual interest with someone and sharing it. Cooking and having a meal with a few drinks at home are good for this. Hiking is a good one as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dan Brown, Stephen King and Haruki Murakami are my three favourite authors. Haruki Murakami in particular. So many different musical artists, but a few to name would be Metallica, Ludovico Einaudi, Jimmy Eat World, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nirvana, UB40, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins and Simon and Garfunkel. I find myself listening to random crap of various genres on youtube now and then. I love a good action film, unfortunately as i progress through my 20's i think i am having higher expectations of a "good" action film. Some to name would be the latest Bond films (though maybe moreso Casino Royale and Skyfall but not so much Quantum of Solace), The Bank Job, The Mechanic, The latest Batman Trilogy. If the action rarely stops i'll probably enjoy it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending 30 days trekking, volunteering and sightseeing in Borneo. Spent a year in Canada travelling, volunteering and working across the country.

Teach, Learn, Share

Though i am not a fitness instructor I have a good knowledge of weight training and running routines. I know quite a bit about eating right too. So i can help set you up on the road to a healthier you for free if you want. I can tell you about Judo or maybe teach you something. I'm pretty good with computers too. I want to learn about New Zealand. Help me find a place to live and a place to work if you are so inclined. Tell me where is a good place to go when hitting the town.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
