About Me
"Be Here Now", Ram Dass
I left England in 2010 to pursue to the life of a globetrotting expat. Imagine Tintin the curious reporter, Keith Floyd’s eccentric culinary voyage, the wandering Laurie Lee, Hemingway during his Key West years and the wonderment expressed by Marco Polo. Image these elements driven by something akin to the spirit of the young men of the '60s fleeing conscription in favour of untapped waves in exotic lands. I don't mind telling you that as a career move it hasn't exactly fallen into my lap but the lifestyle that has emerged is a noteworthy one!
I believe the portrayal of the much sought after semi-nomadic lifestyle is too often a misleading illusion. The fact is, if you're doing the hard yards yourself and you commit to pursuing location-independence, you walk a fine line between smiles and grimaces. There exists in unpredictable quantities, discomfort and pleasure, poverty and riches, confusion and revelation, fear and confidence. It is as exhausting and bewildering a lifestyle as it is thrilling and life-affirming.
From university in London to the shearing farms of outback Australia, the alps of New Zealand and the clamour of Central America and Asia; I am in pursuit of a broad spectrum of life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe Couchsurfing is the best way to meet locals and locals are the best way to understand a new place! Also, simply sharing tales and knowledge.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
May 2016. Travelling by camel into the desert of Jaisalmer in western Rajasthan. Traversing the endless dunes in brutual 50-degree heat, sipping chai with camel herders, cooking with fire under the stars, taking shelter from the noon heat in deserted Jainist villages...just my girlfriend and I plus our two guides.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to learn about a place from the locals who call it home and in exchange I really love to cook fresh healthy meals from scratch. I'm super clean and organised and respect personal space. I wake early and don't care for late boozy nights; I'd rather a sunrise surf and clear head!
