About Me

Professionally, I'm eager to utilize technology to make a positive contribution to our world, solving problems that haven't been solved yet.

Personally, I find travel critical in keeping our minds open to possibilities. I feel close to people I've only just met because of travel; I'm constantly reminded we're all the same and yet we have so much to learn from one another.

I feel lucky to have the love of travel instilled in me by my family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So many times I've had total strangers help me when I'm in a new city. They will walk blocks out of their way to show me how to find an historic attraction, for example. I want to give back to my fellow travelers when I'm not traveling, and I want to continue to connect with awesome people when I am able to travel.

Interests

Snow skiing, snow boarding, scuba, general aviation, golf, hiking, motorcycling touring, camping, video & film, computers, and most recently, being an outdoor emergency care instructor for our local chapter of the national ski patrol.

Music, Movies, and Books

"The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey" -- incredible book. "Outliers" and "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell. Recently read "Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand and now just reading brain candy here and there. Just re-read "Delivering Happiness" by Tony Hsieh (I can so relate, but on a slightly smaller level ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Mt. Rainier. Motorcycled from England to Turkey as well as the coast of Washington, Oregon and California. Bungee jumped on Vancouver Island. Sailed the Greek islands. Sailed the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. Scuba diving in Thailand, Australia, throughout the Carribean, Lake Michigan and Mexico. (oh.. 1 thing? haven't been able to pick just one yet -- clearly ;-)

Teach, Learn, Share

Best done in person, over a beer, glass of wine, single malt scotch, or simply a coffee.
