About Me

Hi Everyone! I'm Tomas from Chile. I'm 31 years old and I've been living in Melbourne for almost 4 years. The reason why I came to Australia was to pursue a master's degree in water resources management.

My primary goal is to travel and explore every corner of the world. Unfortunately, the current situation has forced me to change my plans, which is why I decided to stay longer in Australia and to enjoy this amazing country. However, finally the time has come! On August 2022 I will be leaving the country for a 4.5 month trip before coming back to Chile. Along this journey, I am looking forward to meeting people all around the world and I am pretty sure CS is one of the best way to do so :).

I enjoy talking and meeting people from different cultures and I consider myself an open-minded and easy-going guy who likes to talk and learn new things. I reckon I have a good sense of humor as I always try to take everything in life as simple as possible. I also consider myself a very curious person. I am always trying to learn new things or to dig deeper in topics that I am passionate about (see hobbies below :P)

I think you can learn something every day, so I'm always willing to have new experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started using Couchsurfing when I was living in Germany back in 2014. Thanks to CS, I managed to connect with amazing people from different cultures and backgrounds who made each of my trips a unique experience. Back in Chile, I was able to host travelers and continue contributing to the community.

Interests

I've always had multiple hobbies although I'm not quite consistent. Within the things I like the most I would highlight;
- Music
- Astronomy
- Tennis
- Photography

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, classic and hard rock along with old heavy metal are always in my Spotify! I used to play in a heavy metal band, mostly playing covers from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, etc.
I enjoy reading. Lately, I've been reading a lot of scientific books, especially those from Carl Sagan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The visit to the "Torres del Paine", a mystical place located in southern Chile. It's just nature at its finest!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about the Chilean culture (music, language, food, and more!) or share any knowledge of my hobbies/passions. I also like talking about multiple topics. I'm always willing to have good conversations and share interesting/funny stories.
