Overview
About Me
Graduated in 2 pretty antagonistic fields: finance and Latin American cultural studies, I'm pursuing my professional career. Hopefully this won't prevent me from doing what I love most: meeting people from all over the world, sharing thoughts, ideas and moments.
A random project I took part in in high school (consisting of hosting a Mexican guy for a week and spending some time with a bunch of foreign volunteers who were visiting my home town) inspired me to travel by myself and open up to meet new people from abroad and that's what I've been attempting to do ever since. I entered an international student organization which gave me the privilege of hosting over 20 people from various countries.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This website is about meeting new people, learning from them and teaching them, sharing experiences and hanging out together. The way I see it, this aspect is much more important than just finding a free bed. Saving these 5, 10 or 30$ can turn into a great benefit, though, because you can spend it on other activities, sightseeing or parties :). With local people, so as to experience something real and authentic.
That's also what I seek - if I host you, I'd like to show you the places where I go and where we, Polish people, go. If I travel to your city, even if you can't host me, I'll be more than happy if you show me the real spirit of your homeland.
Interests
Latin American culture, history, politics, music,
studying and teaching foreign languages (Spanish is my favorite one, no doubts),
contract bridge,
food (trying, eating, not really cooking. Unfortunately my attempts usually end in spectacular fiasco. Nonetheless, if you prepare something with your friends, drink, joke and chill out, it's an awesome way of spending an evening, right?)
Music, Movies, and Books
I read pretty much everything and since the easiest access to books used to be asking my roommate to lend me something, I was mostly ending up with Polish fantasy. Now times have changed and I usually end up with literature regarding consolidation of financial statements or internal control over financial reporting.
Sense8 is by far the best series I've ever watched.
I feel super identified with How I met your mother, I love Game of Thrones (both books and series) and Suits.
Pokémon. I can't help saying this game and show was absolutely inspiring when I was a kid. You just take your backpack, put only the most necessary stuff inside and start a journey. Every episode, every city you visit, every single day is a new adventure. You keep meeting people. You'll never see most of them again, but in some cases you'll make lifelong friends, no matter where they come from.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most unforgettable and creepy one would probably be participating in a shamanic ceremony in the Amazon jungle.
Trying an alcohol made of horse milk or taking a bunch of foreigners to see the cave inhabited by a dragon in our former capital.
