About Me

I grew up in London which, with its vibrant collection and assortment of people, inevitably gave me a taste for experiencing different cultures. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to travel. I grew up imagining what it would be like to throw a dart at a map, buy a ticket and get lost in another place, worlds away from surburbia and I always promised myself I'd do it after school finished.

Well it took a little longer than I'd have prefered. University got in the way for a couple of years. Then I needed to make a bit of money. It's all well and good having the romantic idea of disappearing but I also like being able to eat! Still, 3 years after I left college I found myself in Perú (my dart hit the Pacific so I got to choose) and I was excited to be out.

I lived in a slum with a priest in Peru for 3 months, teaching in his school to pay my way. Then I went to the massive Colca Canyon, I climbed up to Macchu Pichu and floated out to los Uros. I aimed to try every type of food Peru had to offer but somehow in my 6 month trip I managed to miss out on the infamous guinea pig.

Seeing as I'm on couchsurfing I think it goes without saying that I like to try new things and love meeting new people! Always interested in sharing stories, jokes and experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

Take a deep breath and take the present as it comes.
Let the past go, don't worry about the future and embrace the moment or you'll let moments slip away and never enjoy yourself.

Its all about perspective.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was able to have people stay with me for a while when I lived in Bath, met two lovely people from completely opposite corners of the world and tested their honesty with my cooking. So far I've only surfed in Peru but would like to start using Couchsurfing again after a long hiatus.

I would love to have people come and stay with me in Aalborg to show them the 'Paris of the North'.

Interests

I love to cook. Its such an easy skill to learn when the result is food! Talk about motivation!

I love music and I love reading. I especially love being told about new things to listen to or read and if you're passionate about something then you'll infuse me with that passion and I'll inevitably start to enjoy it too.

I enjoy playing sports, particularly football and rugby, and going swimming. I love going to new places and getting caught up in local matches. Supporting local teams, or even just the local favourite on tv, is always exciting and a great way to enjoy an evening with new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

My view is that if someone enjoys something that I don't, its because I'm approaching it wrong. If you are passionate about a book, film or band and bring this passion up in conversation, I will become infected with it. I love finding new music and I think there is
no better review than somebody handing me a cd and saying "This. This is my favourite album.
Listen to it and tell me what you think." I'll be the first to admit it has resulted in the
unfortuante tendancy to try and share my music with everyone else, I can only hope you feel
similarly.

I'd like to think I have a wide taste in music but inevitably there are some genres and bands
that I'm more drawn to than others.
I love Radiohead, Bonobo and Fat Freddy's Drop. Anything with some soul and a beat that gets the heart beating and my head nodding.

I'm an avid reader and have a serious soft spot for trashy sci-fi and Terry Pratchet. I'll happily sit quietly for hours buried in book, I swear I enter a trance-like state until my name is uttered three times. My favourite books are The Beach, anything by Terry Pratchet, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the Culture novels. I've been reading my way through the free classics you can get on the kindle and can heartily recommend Dracula. It's a classic for a reason.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing Nile Rodgers play under the world's biggest disco ball at Bestival is the most amazing musical experience of my life.
