ABOUT ME

After spending 8 years traveling the US I figured it was time to branch out to other countries. I am currently doing a tour of Asia. With that currently I am living in Japan and love it here.

I love sports and pretty much anything active. I don't really care for sitting around doing nothing...sometimes it is nice relaxing but I would rather be doing. . Rock climbing, dancing, and playing guitar/piano are just a few of my hobbies. I am really intrigued by art as well...painting, drawing, and glass work. I tend to spend a lot of time outside or at least try to...camping, hiking, kayaking, backpacking!! I would have to say that I am a pretty easy going person and really don't get uptight about stuff. Living life to seriously just isn't as much fun as being easy going and spontaneous. I love spontaneity and living for the day.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life to the fullest and have no regrets...you need to live for the now and for the day. Also, I feel it is very important to keep an optimistic output on life. It makes things more enjoyable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In Dec. 2010 I finished a month long road trip around the United States and used Couch Surfing most of the way. I would like to do some hosting but it is going to be a little while because I have a couple roommates that would not be down with this...which is super lame. If you really need a place we can work something out. Let me know ahead of time though. I have a crazy work schedule and need a bit of a notice.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dispatch, Guster, Barefoot Truth, Peter Bradley Adams, The Beatles, Pretty much any music minus only a few genres.

Top 3 would have to be 'The Dresden Files', 'Codex Alera' and 'Game of Thrones'. If you have not had a chance to explore Jim Butcher you are in for a treat. I love fantasy novels. For others, I really enjoyed "Man's Search for Meaning" by Dr. Frankel and the Lord of the Rings by Tolkien for books. I also like reading books by David Gemmel.

As for movies I like a lot but up there near the top of my list: Gladiator, Fight Club, Anchorman, Lion King, The Princess Bride, Sandlot, Avatar, Lord of the Rings, Law Abiding Citizen, Inception, Dead Poets Society...there are many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the stampede trail in Alaska.

Made it around the part of the US with almost only using Couch Surfing, and then meeting people in bars, or coffee shops to stay with. Starting in Austin, up to Santa Fe, to the Grand Canyon, Down to San Diego, Up the 1 and 101 all the way to Forks and around Olympic park, over to Seattle, then back to WI.

Came to Japan with a backpack and 500$...that was 4 years ago.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach and learn and do pretty much everything there is to do. As far as teaching things I can and like to teach are: Dancing, various sports, Outdoor Education, Rock Climbing, Slack Lining, Snowboarding, Guitar...pretty much anything I like to do I like to teach.
