Overview
About Me
I’d describe myself as “good craic” (as we say in Ireland🇮🇪) who will never say no to a few beers with new friends & an opportunity to learn about new cultures or try new experiences. I quit my boring job in Finance a couple of years ago in search of a more fulfilling life and have been travelling the world on & off ever since (basically figuring it out as I go along).
This has taken me on many adventures throughout Latin America, Australia and South East Asia, backpacking and doing various volunteer jobs along the way (including:
- Teaching English to kids in Colombia (with limited Spanish knowledge & no other English speakers to work with)
- Hosting hostel night events whilst living near active volcanoes in Guatemala
- Leading pub crawls with a deaf & mute Vietnamese guy in Hanoi (we became best of friends)
- Helping out at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand
Unfortunately the more I travel the more I add more places onto my infinite bucket list and this means I need to keep travelling to satisfy my needs. I’m currently back closer to home & exploring parts of Europe I haven’t previously made it to. I’m pretty laid back and chill so I’d like to think I’m relatively easy to get on with!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to try something different and I would love to meet some local people to show me around and bring me to any hidden gems in their city. Beats being bored in a hotel room or meeting other travellers in a hostel who are as clueless about the place as I am.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like sports (football, rugby, NFL mainly) and I also play guitar. I love classic rock particularly Metallica, Guns n Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers & Oasis. I tried diving recently for the first time and loved it! Or we can just discuss world economics if you prefer
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I traveled to the most remote island in the world last year - Easter island! Over 2,000 miles from the next nearest land mass in the Pacific Ocean, it's only accessible by a single 5 hour flight a day from Santiago Chile. The Rapa Nui culture was really interesting and the statues were amazing to see in person. A true once in a lifetime experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help teach English or Irish slang (which is basically its own language), guitar but mainly I’ll just bring the good vibes.
I'm always willing to learn the important parts of different cultures (I now know how to say “cheers” in over 20 languages💪)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good vibes, laughs & stories so you can look back and remember that great night some random Irish dude stayed on your couch.
