About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi there! My name is Tom. I’m 25, soon to be 26. I’ve traveled a lot and lived in many different places, but the short of it is that I was born in Montana, raised in West Virginia, and moved to Phoenix, AZ in late 2017.

I’m a musician, artist, handyman kind of guy. Real friendly, pretty meek. I get along with everyone and most everyone gets along with me.

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would really love a backyard, floor, or couch to sleep in, on, or around. I like to offer my hosts various trinkets that I find on my journey. I'm also a kind of handyman and will offer to help with any tasks around the house or home repairs you might want done, if you have tools. Plant love is my favorite love so if you need some garden help or the like I'm your pal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started staying with CS hosts in the summer of 2015. I've had nothing but the best experiences and I am continually amazed by the generosity of the people I meet through couchsurfing. Many have gone out of their way to be helpful and I have a deep well of gratitude in my heart for everyone I have stayed with. Thank you all so much. Tusen takk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Yesterday 7/19/17 I watched a group of ants working with their aphid herd, milking them for their honey dew, and removing from the premises a dead parasitic wasp who had left behind one swollen parasitized aphid before the soldiers were able to take it down.

A few weeks ago at a farmers market in Phoenix, Arizona I saw ginger on display by a wholesaler that I had harvested in Hawaii a couple months prior.

In 2013 I started hitchhiking out of West Virginia, and within a month I was in Los Angeles, California.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to make organic liquid fertilizers, how to plant a pineapple from the crown, and how to make bugs want to leave your plants alone. Depending on your region, I can probably show you at least 5 edible wild plants, and 500 edible insects (just in case). I could also teach some music theory and songwriting techniques, and some Norsk words.

I'd love to learn any bits of any languages you know. I want to learn to draw better so if you could teach me drawing techniques I'd appreciate it. We could share farming knowledge. Maybe you know how to do natural building and can show me. I want to learn most things. On a recent stay I learned how to lubricate industrial paper cutter machines.

What I Can Share with Hosts

With hosts I can share an abundance of travel stories, organic farm knowledge, improv songs, jokes I've made up, jokes you want me to make up, and I usually carry a cool rock or two that I'm waiting to give to the right person.
