I'm Tomo living in Wakayama, Japan.

I grew up in the greater Tokyo area, but I couldn't let go the beautiful scenery of countryside Japan where I often visited my grandparents as a child.

As a university student, I decided to study rural communities in Japan. I live in a small community in Wakayama, now, while I continue to study in Kyoto. The more I interact with the people in rural communities, I fall in love with the beautiful socio-cultural landscape.

Now, I work to connect people of these communities to the people outside.

Living in cities, we forget that things are all interconnected. In cities, we become friends with who we want, and we buy and eat things that we want.
In rural areas, everything is connected, and you can't always pick and chose. The community, seasons, food, and culture.

It would be an honour if I can show you the rawest of Japan :)

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I would like to experience the world, and the relationship between rural communities and their land, consumers and producers.

As a host, I'd like to show people, the other side of Japan, which isn't filled with laser shooting robots and vending machines full of weird stuff, but filled with life and gifts of each season.

兴趣

I play accordion during my free time. I often perform at local events for the community. I also play soccer, and do Japanese calligraphy.

Oh I can also show you how to do Japanese juggling.

I was busking with my accordion in a train station in India, when a local musician joined in. We jammed for a while and got a good crowd!!
