About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Wherever the Wind takes me!

ABOUT ME

enthusiastic, kind-hearted, slightly crazy, funny little weirdo! My passions: dancing (jazz, salsa, looking into Tango at the moment), definitely rock climbing and generally being outdoors, glaciers - anything to do with ice and snow (snowboarding, ice-skating, ice-climbing - and studying how glaciers form/deform their proximal landscapes and how they react to climate in the past, present and future). Love various forms of folk music and collecting interesting sounds during my travels. Love cooking and having a bunch of friends over for collective jam-sessions with a glass of wine...

PHILOSOPHY

Go For It

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just moved to Santiago de Chile and am currently building a guest bed. As soon as it is up and running, you're more than welcome to try it out!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To present I have harbored couchsurfers whilst living in Reykjavik, Iceland, a couple back home in Munich, Germany, and a few in Glasgow, Scotland. Whilst wondering around South America, I have couchsurfed in Chile/Argentina, in Sweden and the US.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books I have recently read/am still reading:

Cry of the Kalahari which is about a couple who head into the desert to study animal behavior, Paolo Coelho in general, The Element which is a book about how the school system in GB does not promote/encourag creativity but rather puts kids and their thoughts into boxes instead of letting them run more freely.

Music - where to start - where to end?

Loreena McKennit, Ludovico Einaudi, Zoe Keating, Clannad, Manu Chau, Amaral, Miguel Bose, Anna Toroja, Soehne Mannheims, Lyra, Hevia, Zazie, Nightwish...

With respect to movies, I really like Gorillas in the Mist for the intensity; A mighty heart for the tolerance; What dreams may come for the passion; Les Chorist for the voice; Quills for the mentality; Chocolate for well the smell of chocolate that almost translates through the screen; Gandhi for the patients and 21 grams.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- expedition over the southern Patagonian icefield
- driving over the countryside with my 30 year old Vespa
- diving in Laugavatn, 4 degrees cold water but spectacular views
- amazing night climbing session in Kilsyth the other day
- sound and smell of the desert at night
