About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To expand my mind, meet great people and see new places!

ABOUT ME

I'm a very creative guy and driven when something inspires me, like my current travels. I'm sociable (but not a complete party animal) and great at starting up conversations with people I don't know because I have a broad sense of humour and always strive to find some common ground. I'm quite confident and not afraid to stand up and address a large group of people. I'm enthusiastic about my interests (see below) and always willing to share experiences and discover new things. As cliched as it is, I'd definitely say that I'm on a journey of self-discovery right now and I want to put myself on a path where I can see myself achieving my goals.

PHILOSOPHY

I know life is short and it has it's many ups and downs, but if you accept what makes you who you are, don't hold grudges and you can focus on the things that really make you happy, then whatever path you put yourself on will be the right one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently have not participated yet, so this shall be updated when I have.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I currently have no CouchSurfing experiences, but I look forward to the ones I will have.

Interests

I love meeting new people for starters. I enjoy going out, but would probably choose a pub over a club if I had the choice. Movies, music and comedy are a big part of my life as I not only enjoy watching/listening to them, but actively participate in them too. I play the guitar and sing (though still struggling a little at doing both at once), and love to jam with others when I get the chance. Having completed a college course in Film Production, I enjoy writing and making movies. I've written and performed quite a lot of stand-up comedy in the recent past and I hope to do more in the future, especially as I cross the States in Nov/Dec.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Love American, English and world cinema of all genres really. If I had to pick some favourites:
The Matrix / OldBoy / Fight Club / Eternal Sunshine / Withnail and I / Big Lebowski / Monty Pyton etc
Music: I'll pretty much listen to anything, as long as it sounds good! Rock, pop, jazz, classical, hip-hop, electronic, indie etc... I'm not fussy!
Books: Not going to lie... I don't really read that much, but it is an area I want to improve on. I read "Misery" by Stephen King late last year and thought it was awesome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My trip to Thailand a few years ago was pretty amazing, as it gave me the chance to not only experience such a brilliant, vibrant culture but it allowed me to be independent and self-reliant for the first time. Another thing is that I performed stand-up as part of the "Free Fringe" at the Edinburgh festival in 2011 which put me under a lot of pressure and made me think on my feet. I'll never forget that. And lastly, I would have to say that the trip I am currently embarking on is pretty epic (I have just had a year in Australia and am about to travel across both New Zealand and the States). Bring it on!

Teach, Learn, Share

Because I play the guitar and sing, while I'm no professional teacher, I would be happy to impart any useful knowledge I do have in this area, at least to get someone on the right track. With my stand-up comedy/film background I guess I could also help others with their writing and presentation skills!
