ABOUT ME

Three parts saltwater, one part snow, a healthy dash of sun. Serve on the rocks.

I'm a friendly dude. Traveler, conservationist, nature nerd, and outdoor enthusiast. Over time I've moved into the digital strategy field, which is great, as it lets me work remotely. When I'm not traveling, you can find me hanging off a cliff, hurtling down a snowy mountain, or underwater on a coral reef. Talk travel to me.

Favorite animal: nudibranchs. If you're not sure what that is, ask me, but be prepared for a tirade of how awesome these little slugs are.

PHILOSOPHY

If you don't make an active choice to define your life, your life will be defined by your choice of inaction. Nothing comes from doing nothing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On a road trip with a friend back in college, we visited his extended family, and I found myself sharing dinner and stories with complete strangers who extended to me every courtesy of home. I loved learning about them and meeting their family, and I realized that this could happen anywhere in the world, all you need is that first connection. With a single connection you can meet the most amazing people and build intimate relationships with people who were previously strangers. By couch surfing, we make that first connection... it's not just a place to stay, it's an introduction to people that you may have never met, it's an invitation for them to join in with your life story.

To me, strangers are just friends you haven't met yet!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing on a sand cay on the middle of the Great Barrier Reef and disturbing a flock of seabirds at one end, but since we were 2 hours from land they had nowhere to go, so they circled me in a whirlwind.

Watching the moon rise from one side and the sun set on the other from a rock pillar on Malibu State Park in California, and watching the sky shift from stars to sunset somewhere overhead.

Hitch-hiking 4,000 miles in Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach rock climbing, guitar, freediving, and skiing.

I can share stories, poems, a beer, and a good time.

I can learn anything, and I want to learn everything.
(especially surfing, kiteboarding, and the piano!)
