About Me
CURRENT MISSION
No regrets. Simple as that....
ABOUT ME
My name is Tom, I’m 28, an easygoing, social Belgian who loves movies and nightlife. Of course… This is just a cover. I’m actually agent Sir Thomas Cornelius Templar, a super spy in employment by the CIA, MI6 and the Belgian secret service. I am a master of disguise and usually In the middle of investigating a super secret evil plot to destroy and/or conquer the world, by an even more super evil mastermind.
When I’m not working, I like to spend my time drinking vodka martini on beaches while scarcely clad women emerge from the sea and fall for my irresistible charm. I also like trying new gadgets on unsuspecting henchmen. In general, mostly I’m just occupying myself with being incredibly awesome.
Sleeping on my couch may mean you and the couch will get kidnapped by an evil mastermind who threatens to destroy the world. No worries. That couch is actually a transformed Aston Martin DB-5. Just don’t push that button that says eject and self destroy.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy would be something like 'live like there's no tomorrow', 'be in the present, not the future', 'live life at its fullest'. I think this is a way of life and of thinking that can lead you to a fulfilling life. I try to follow this philosophy but unfortunately in this day and age that is not always so easy. Traveling is an excelent remedy to make you stop and realise.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Plenty of couches in our home, some softer then the others but all perfect for passing travelers. I'll be couchsurfing myself on my next trip!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've never actually done couchsurfing myself but two groups of couchsurfers have stayed on our couch recently. Both experiences were very good. It's a nice way to meet interesting people who you'd otherwise ofcourse never meet. I also enjoyed showing the couchsurfers around and helping them select the things you have to see or do in Ghent and Flanders. Both groups of travelers brought a holiday-atmosphere into our home and that's the best gift they could give.
Interests
-Movies. And since these days lots of television shows attain the same quality as movies, I'm very interested in televisionfiction as well. I can enjoy every genre of film as long as it's a good story and well executed.
Electronic music. Techno has my preference but I love other genres as well. From trance to Drum 'n Bass, from dubstep to hardcore. You'll always make me happy if you show me a party with electronic music!
-History. All my life I've been kind of a history nerd. Everything that is old and has a story behind it, will get my attention. I think this is part of one of my other interests. I love stories in all its forms. No Lord of the Rings, no Game of Thrones, no fictional story is that crazy as the stories that happened troughout humanity's history.
-Going out: yes, I'm not all nerd! I like my parties. If I go to another country of city I want to get to know it by day and by night. Disco and/or bar, dancing and/or drinking, I love it all.
-Mens sana in corpore sano: I'm quite fanatic about doing sport and this takes up a lot of my free time. At the moment I'm doing fitness and cycling. Untill recently I used to do Muay Thai (that's kickboxing. Please don't get the wrong idea, I'm a kind guy who wouldn't hurt a fly. And if I'd hurt a fly, I would use my fists but a paper ;) ). I'm not doing muay that anymore though as there simply wasn't enough time to do 3 types of sport.
-Stories. I like stories, in every possible form. That's why I like to meet new people. Everyone has their own story, everyone has something interesting to tell.
I also write stories: scripts for (short)movies, television series and also books. There's always some kind of story I'm working on.

Music, Movies, and Books
-Favourite movies: Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Fountain, Brick.
-Favourite books: Secretum, Imprimatur and Veritas by Rita Monaldi and Francesco Sorti.
-Favourite music: Anything electronic, but I like techno the most. I like moviesoundtracks as well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I could say 'doing a bungee jump in Spain' or 'jogging on top of the Great Wall of China'. Yeah, these were fun things to do and the qualifier 'amazing' fits perfectly. However, it's the small things that I will remember way longer. Relaxing on a boat on the Jangtse under a black sky full of stars or meeting new people you've never seen before on a grouptravel and instantly bonding thanks to an evening of crazy karaoke. It's those things that make you smile afterwards and it's those experiences that actually feel like they were amazing.
