ABOUT ME

It's difficult to sum up one's self, I think. I mean where do I begin? Musical is the first descriptive to come to mind; I sing and I spend most of my down-time listening to something (usually some form of rock music - heavy stuff - but then my heavy might be your soft, or vice versa.)

I'm 27, I'm a student at university, I like to travel (when money permits it), I'm fairly liberal in my outlook, I can cook pretty well, I'm relaxed and open-minded, I have an interest in what 'goes-on' in the world, I like to learn new things and I crave the extraordinary.

I know a bit of French (enough to get-by) but I'm always wanting to improve. I hope to be a teacher of English as a foreign language one day.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others as you would have them treat you.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to use this website as a means to be able to explore the world and meet other, like-minded travellers. Travelling broadens the mind, they say - well, I'd like some more of that!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not much - I've just started, but I'm quite keen and have attended a good few CouchSurfing meetings in Canterbury, my home-town.

Música, películas y libros

Alice in Chains, True Widow, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Faith No More, Smashing Pumpkins, Saint Vitus, Field Music...

Books about both world wars interest me a lot, especially personal accounts of survivors from both sides, both civilian and military.

I like Science Fiction, Comedy and War films, although I don't like ALL of them, and indeed, I don't hate ALL the films that fail to fall under those particular categories either!

Algo increíble que he hecho

I've been to Siberia and performed in one of their theatres with Russian actors! During Winter, no less - I guess that's not half bad, when it was -50c!

I spent a year away in Canada, and consider this something of a turning point in my life.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Don't eat yellow snow.

Don't sing Karaoke if you're actually good at singing - that's not the point of it, and you'll just piss people off!

Music is good for the soul and it's good for stress. For the latter, I don't mean happy music (because there's nothing worse than a happy song when you're in a bad mood) I mean music that fits with your current frame of mind - it's good to not feel so alone in what you feel, and then if you're ready, you'll start to feel better again (well, it works for me).

http://www.allmusic.com/ - a really good website for finding information about artists/bands, with reviews, album discographies and all that sort of stuff. I find it really helpful when I'm just discovering a new band.

Use last.fm - it gradually builds-up an idea of what you like and what you don't musically. There's nothing more exhilarating than discovering a new band and the possibility that they have more awesome sounds you're yet to discover. This website is great for that.

Try to buy what you can from local, family-run suppliers, as opposed to massive, heartless chains. Obviously, don't do so at your expense, I mean, if small companies' products are poor and their service awful then perhaps they deserve to go out of business, but out of personal experience (my father is a baker) I can at least safely testify that bread bought at a supermarket is NOTHING compared to that purchased at a baker/boulangerie. Same goes with meat, vegetables, and most other foodstuffs. For the rest, there's Amazon!

Buy music if/when you can - it takes a lot of skill, time and money to produce, so it's only fair.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

An open-minded and easy-going frame of mind. I can cook a little bit too! I won't ask for anything other than a couch and somewhere to get clean; you don't need to be my tour guide and you won't need to keep me entertained - I'm totally 'self-sufficient'! Think of me as Switzerland ;-)
