About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeing a varied amount of countries worldwide and learn from different people. Aiming to get a good piece done before the easy student's life ends! Currently traveling Central America for 6 months, due to that I'm not able to host people right now.

ABOUT ME

Welcome, guys. I'm sharing this page, together with my house, with my girlfriend Valerie Buijs. We've been travelling since we could, touring Europe (with especially good experiences in eastern Europe), Nepal, Morocco and currently, Central America. Couchsurfing for me is a great way to make new friends, and to see places through the eyes of a local. I'm also looking forward to showing our city and country to whoever who wishes to come, hopefully leading to an amazing stay and a possible future return visit at yours!

PHILOSOPHY

Currently, learning a lot on as many different fields as possible (my own medical field, but also history, culture, languages and experiences). In the future I'd like to work as a tropical doctor so having worldy knowledge is quite important for me, and this is the time to get it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We own an apartment in a small complex, at ground level. We've got a spare room for possible guests, together with a comfy couch in the living room. The guestroom is filled with musical instruments and maps and is occasionally used as a studio, but I guess a couchsurfer probably isn't going to mind ;). Our home is quite close to the city centre and main train station, it's a 10 minute bike- or bus ride approximately. We are both normally busy during working hours on week days but I'd love to show you around Utrecht in the evenings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had an amazing stay in Antigua Guatemala. Excited to couchsurf a bit more on this trip!

Interests

I'm a hobbyist musician, playing several instruments and have been in two bands previously. As a couchsurfer I love to travel and have some plans to go to Iran next year and to Rwanda shortly after.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently enjoying Mario Vargas Llosa and Gabriel Marquez during my travels in Central America. I like to switch good fiction with history works. In terms of movies, especially everything from Guy Richie and Tarantino.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas of Nepal, spending New Year's Eve in a nomad camp in the Sahara & diving at Alton's in Utila, Honduras.

What I Can Share with Hosts

You're welcome to stay in our spare room and play a bit of music if you like! Utrecht is a 30 minute train ride from Amsterdam (and there are trains throughout the night), and any other Dutch city as well for that matter. If it's not a holiday I'll be away during week days but will be there to chill with you in evenings and weekends. Cooking together would be cool, swapping some recipes, and I've got a bbq in the back yard as well that we could use.
