About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To become a life long learner through adventure.
ABOUT ME
Hi there!
I'm Toni and I'm about to embark on my trip around Asia to end my gap year! I've worked hard to save up. This year has been a year of growth, and I can't wait to learn more out there (and perhaps with you!).
In the fall, I'll be studying Science at my dream school. I hope to use this degree to pursue a career in either the medical field or teaching field - as I enjoy working with people and making a difference. I may minor in English as I do enjoy literature and writing as well.
My most recent adventure: I spent three weeks in Tanzania on a service trip with Me to We where we taught different subjects (I taught Drama/Music - subjects I'm both passionate about), built new classrooms and organized an olympic day for the kids.
PHILOSOPHY
Going forth with a simple and sincere heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm starting out on couchsurfing with my big Asia backpacking trip this April to August! It'll be first time travelling independently, and hope to learn a lot by meeting others such as culture, cooking and other lessons that will surprise me.
Interests
PERFORMING ARTS
I've been both an actor and a singer on stage. I enjoy singing and belting ballads and Beyonce, and I'd love to jam with you if you're interested! Acting is something I love to do as well.
SPORTS
Prior to a bad knee injury, I was very active in volleyball, basketball, soccer, frisbee and hockey. I still play out of love for them, but not competitively.
WRITING
I've been writing short stories since I was in the second grade. A huge passion of mine, friends often ask to write short stories for them. I thrive in creativity and just need to jot ideas down.

Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to base these coveted titles on what I don't get tired of, things I can still adore after hearing, reading or watching it a million times.
FAVOURITE BOOK: Battle Royale by Koushun Takami
Even though its content is quite disturbing (a more graphic Hunger Games), the 600 page epic keeps you on the edge of your seat, invested in characters you see yourself in. Everytime I finish it (a total of 12 times now), I always walk away from it with a new lesson learned.
FAVOURITE MOVIE: The Goofy Movie
How can you not love how much Goofy goes out of his way to spend time with his son? My favourite part is actually the soundtrack! I know all the lyrics to "After Today" and "Stand Up".
FAVOURITE SONG: September - Earth, Wind, Fire
Even though this song was bumping on the radio way before I was born, if you play this song I will break out in dance. Those darn falsettos always get me moving and grooving.
FAVOURITE ARTISTS: Boyz II Men, Childish Gambino, BTS, Ne-yo, Sam Smith
Even though my music taste is pretty diverse (quote a Paramore song, and I will sing the rest of the song for you, guaranteed), but my heart will always belong to the heartfelt songs of RnB - although I do love rap as well. I'm also a big fan of Korean Pop, so if you are the least bit interested, you can ask questions about it, and I will passionately answer.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was the co-designer for a room at an escape room company I used to work at! The theme? The Attic. I'm really happy our proposed design/puzzles/etc. were chosen!
Teach, Learn, Share
- If you're interested about breaking it down on the dance floor, I can show you a few dance moves (Hula, dorky or actually remotely cool styles included)
- I can make a mean cup of joe, or joe-based drinks with my barista experience (if you have the supplies - otherwise we can get creative!)
Lately, I've been practicing my cooking skills, and am most definitely interested in learning different cuisines, so I'd love to help out with cooking if you'd like!
Also, even though I love music, I've never gotten the time to learn how to play guitar or expand my piano knowledge (I know the basics). If you have any knowledge or know-how, please share with me!
