Overview
About Me
I'm grateful my 20s were a debt-free decade traveling with intention through work with meaning.
For me, some of that work includes:
- student activism and political / community organizing
- rebuilding homes after Hurricane Katrina with Habitat for Humanity and the people of New Orleans, LA among two proud terms (2 years) of national service with AmeriCorps
- presenting across the US on a veggie oil bus tour, BioTour on the 2008 Campaign Trail
- updating the mission statement at TOMS Shoes
- copy-editing in the Obama White House
- teaching, living, and backpacking abroad
- experimenting with art and business in the Gift Economy - including guiding clients through building their professional brand online - and founding an international free art forum encouraging your own inner creative and generous artist (yes, free shipping too). http://CREATEandGIFT.org
I'm an idealist, but realistically I was only able to meander this path because a wonderful scholarship enabled me to graduate university debt-free.
We have got to reform our broken student loan debt system and make higher education an affordable and actual political priority in the United States.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've surfed and I've hosted. Always a fine time. Love meeting curious, adventurous, kind and worldly people
I've been fortunate to enjoy the generosity of others throughout the US when I lived on a vegetable oil powered school bus called BioTour on the 2008 Campaign Trail (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=322GospVCQg)
I've also hosted wonderful people when my friends and I started a spiritual practice community center in Montara, CA and with my leaf-loving girlfriend, Lianne, in our former homes of South Korea and rural Zambia.
Now in Thailand, we're happy to meet new people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love to read. Used to bounce between 4 books on my Kindle at once, but now I've moved on to speeding up audiobooks (free from the library). (I also work as an editor and proofreader.) As for music, I'm a huge fan of Bayside and also enjoy the 80s Love Songs station on Pandora Radio. It's been awhile since I've heard some new music; would be happy to hear what you're into.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I swam in the Fountain of Youth (it's a bottomless abyss of a lake hidden off a trail at Harper's Prairie in the Ocala National Forest, FL - "el ojo del agua")
Teach, Learn, Share
Fortunately, there is no shortage of things to teach, learn, and share in this world.
I love teaching people how to solve the Rubik's Cube. Yes, you can solve it. And I'd love to learn whatever you'd like to share too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully good conversation with a grateful guest, happy to do the dishes and keep a tidy space in exchange for your hospitality as well. I also often travel with art which I give away free through an organization I founded called "CREATE and GIFT". Happy to chat about travel, design, web, and cybersecurity advice. I have helped quite a few people and intentional organizations build their online presence as well as secure their data, passwords, and privacy.
