About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm from a small town in Wisconsin in the United States. I am currently living in Cangas, Spain until the end of May and last year I lived in Andalucía. I'm enjoying getting to discover a new region in Spain.
I love to travel to meet new people, and see different countries, and learn about other cultures. I'm very easygoing and enjoy languages, traveling, and meeting all kinds of people.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that it is important for everyone to move out of their comfort zone now and then, to open their mind to new ideas and cultures. One of my best/favorite experiences of my life was my time studying abroad in Peru. I made some amazing friends, saw many beautiful parts of the country, and learned about a culture different from my own. I would suggest this experience to everyone! This is another reason I enjoy languages- it opens up doors for you to another culture, new people, another whole world, and the opportunities it gives you are endless!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to couchsurfing! I have stayed with a few hosts before, but so far I haven't hosted. I would love to host sometime, I think it is a great way to meet people, and also help others see different parts of the world. I had great experiences being a surfer staying with hosts that showed me amazing things, and I'd love to be able to do that for a surfer!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with three hosts in Germany, and I had a great time! I had an especially amazing experience where the host showed us a lot of their area in a little time, and I was able to stay with them and their family, both very welcoming.

Interests

I love learning languages! I studied Spanish in college, and now am just starting to learn Italian, German, and French on my own. My level is very low, but it's a fun challenge, and it's fun to visit those countries and use the language (even if it's only a little bit!)
I enjoy outdoor activities also; camping, swimming, biking, and volleyball are some of my favorite pastimes. I love enjoying nice weather and spending time with my dog, Lola.
I enjoy dancing (I need some practice!) and also now guitar; I started learning a few months ago, and it's a great way to spend free time. Even though I don't play very well, it's a way to connect with people and have fun!
I like art, I enjoy painting ceramics, photography, and scrapbooking. Now that I'm traveling more I will have more projects pending. :)
Finally, I love animals. I grew up around them, and I'd love to be a veterinarian.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kinds of music-rock, pop, country, anything!-I don't really have a favorite. I'm always open to suggestions for good music, especially in other languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As I said, my favorite experience was studying abroad in Peru. It has a little of everything- the Amazion, the Andes Mountains, and the coast. Machu Picchu is one of the most amazing places I have seen. However, every country I have visited has amazing things about it: food, people, or places. I'm looking forward to the chance to visit many more countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

One piece of advice I would give is to always have an open mind! Nothing can go wrong if you use this outlook, and you'll enjoy every experience even more.
