I'm Toon, a 23 year old student from Hasselt, Belgium. At the moment I am living and studying in Ghent.
I studied in Tallinn, Estonia with the Erasmus program.
At the moment I am studying Printmaking. I love drawing, art, photography, printmaking, having a beer and of course exploring the world and its inhabitants. I'm a open-minded and social person.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Not only to see new places, but also meet new, like-minded people.
I find it best to explore and get to know a place by trying to blend in as a local would. Staying with someone who knows the place is just a great opportunity to discover the hidden gems of a place.
Because it is a cheap way to have rich experiences.

I listen to allot of different genres of music. Classical rock, pop, techno, balkan, gypsy, electronic, swing...
Some of my favourites: Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Rolling Stones, Moderat, Arcade Fire, Gogol Bordello, Cream, Nicolas Jaar, The Velvet Underground, The Raconteurs, Darkside, Baxter Dury ...

Books:
Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, Kafka...
But mostly books about art

Movies:
This is a difficult one. I'm a big movie fan, so it's pretty hard to chose. Some directors I like: Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, Paolo Sorrentino, Darren Aronofsky, Stanley Kubrick,...
Obscure cult-films are also a definite yes.

PS: Romantic comedies are a guilty pleasure

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

-Roadtrip through Croatia
-Saw the northern lights in Lapland
-Hitchhiked through the Baltics during wintertime (probably a better idea during summertime)
-Visited Chernobyl
-Had rain for four days in the Atacama desert (driest place in the world)

One not so amazing thing was the third class night train in Ukraine...
