About Me

Well... it's hard for me to create a picture of my own. It's also a bit depending on by mood in this moment. But usually I'm down-to-earth - but also ran in a monkey costume for two hours through Vienna for the Free Hugs event on the Vienna Calling 2010. Usually not a party animal an a bit shy - but danced on a subway party in Munich in the middle of a subway station. But always I try to be gentle, polite and kind. But here's what others say about me:

Caspar: Good person, very down to earth
Thomas: a rater quiet guy, but he has the heart of a giant
Mimimimi: a nice person and really worth it to be friend with
Toufik: He is the perfect guest... on time and precise, 100% made in Germany
Konrad: Thomas was a wonderful guest: very polite, respectful, and friendly
Mathias: seemed to be shy at first impact ...indipendent and perfectly organized
Kiwia: Thomas was great to have around, very easy going and low maintenance.
Ver: His dedication and sincere attitude to provide positive and encouraging CSing experience is highly commendable.
Manja: the most reliable person I met in my life
Sergei: Thomas and Holm are very friendly and polite guys. It was easy and comfortable to host them.
Argita: Thomas was a very nice guest and I appreciate his independency.
Lidiya: Thomas and his friend arrived at our place and we liked them at the same time. They were so polite and shy :-)) that everybody would like them! :)

PHILOSOPHY
Always try to give a bit more than you expect in return. If you expect someone to hold the door open - do it to several people. If you expect to be given drive - do so to other car drivers. If you expect the people passing by to be in a good mood - smile to them. It's that easy to improve the world we are living in :)

And for the sake of travel:
Don't travel for the sake of arriving but of traveling.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 - 1832)

Only fools travel to other countries to enter museums - wise ones enter pubs.
Erich Kastner (1899 - 1974)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Due to the lack of time being to be active in CS I have to speak mostly in the past tense. But still I think CS is a good project my profile still is active. So here we go...

Visited 30 countries - most of them by Couchsurfing.

Several hosts in Ireland during a bicycle trip (1000km within 11 days)
Also had hosts in Moscow, Wroclaw, Prague, Strasbourgh, Bremen, Milano, Riga, Leiden, Gdansk, Kaliningrad, Vilnius, Tallin, Olsztyn, Stockholm, Cagliari, Edinburgh, Utrecht, Stavanger, Skudeneshavn, Haugesund, Tampere, Vienna, St. Petersburg, Lappeenranta, Barcelona, Marrakech, Cassablanca, Agadir, Maspalomas, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Bucharest, Ruse, Sofia and Istanbul and even Bangkok (and those I might have forgotten).
Always either went out for a beer or had a very nice evening in the flat, sometimes I also made a pasta dinner :)
Hosted people from Indonesia, France, Germany, United States, Poland and Russia.

Joined a few CS evens as "Edinburgh Rocks" (2009), "Midsummer festival Utrecht" (2009), "Vienna Calling" (2010), co-managed a (pretty small) invasion of Bremen CS to Paderborn.

For a few years I was the local ambassador in the town I lived. Did emergency hosting, managed a monthly meetup with local CSer...

Interests

They are always changing :)
Did Karate for 6 years, also tried Aikido and Ninjutsu
Tried studying business law in a electronic distance learning - canceled as it was too hard to do next to a usual 10to7 job (in a complete different topic).
Tried learning accoustic guitar - did my very best but didn't work that well
Of course due to the job some IT stuff

Right now I'm fully involved with my family, the house and two jobs - so there is no time for CS :(
