Resumen
Sobre mí
i grew up in new hampshire, went to school in vermont, and lived in new york city for 3+ years working as a technology specialist in a school and enjoying the wonderful community of friends i had in the city. in january, i left that job in pursuit of a new lifestyle and new experiences -- i spent 4 months living in new orleans before traveling back to the northeast to buy a trusty '96 toyota corolla from an old college professor and road trip around the states for the summer.
i'll be bouncing all over the western US at least through september before returning to new orleans and living there somewhat more permanently -- though if i keep traveling as frugally as i have been, i could extend things further. i feel i could very well end up WWOOFing in the south through the summer if i'm not quite ready to return to city life.
as i write this (july 1st) in salida, colorado i'm about a month deep! my plans are fairly open-ended -- i'm staying with friends and family, cooking, farming, camping, hiking, biking, singing songs, making art, meeting people, absorbing the landscape. this is a huge and varied country and i'm endlessly interested in how people ended up where they are, how they live their lives, what the place they live means to them and how it shapes who they are. adding couchsurfing to my list of tools for visiting new places and meeting new people will hopefully allow me to broaden this informal investigation even further. i've already passed through so many towns that i've wanted to spend a night or two in and learn more about -- and i've heard couchsurfing is a great way to do exactly that!

Música, películas y libros
i'm a voracious consumer of culture (music especially) but here's what's really touched me in the past month:
sufjan stevens
natalie prass
gretel ehrlich's 'the solace of open spaces'
morvern callar
orange is the new black
veep
all things hunger games
charles burns' 'black hole'
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
i'm exceedingly tidy and love to clean (really), love to cook, always happy to serenade or sing/play along with you on guitar or piano, have a panoply of games in my car, and will talk endlessly about art, politics, the universe, relationships & the daily wonder and confusion of being a human with you (but if you want to put me up on your couch and don't want to talk a whole lot that's fine too!)
