About Me

Basically, I'm all about co-creating visions of a future we'd actually want to live in together.

I'm a great cook who is really concerned with the nature of human relationships, alternative economic systems, and the way that urban space is organized (for us by others and by us for ourselves). Lately, I've been trying to figure out the best ways to articulate the difference between a house and a home and what that means for nomadic folk, exiles, refugees, 'houseless folks', etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I haven't been very active on this site in the past, but I've always lived collectively and often hosted folks in the spaces I've lived in. I originally joined to formalize that or find other folks, but wasn't so good at checking up on things and different sets of roommates tended to be more on top of finding folks from this site. Now I'm gearing up to do some traveling of my own and would love to find the magical humans out there that I should be spending time with. I also don't believe in paying rent and I don't think that the role of the 'landlord' is a just or fair or reasonable position in society, so I'm constantly trying to find practical ways around supporting them for myself and others.

Music, Movies, and Books

lately, I only want to read female authors. Ursula K. Le Guin is an obvious favorite. David Graeber, Michael Taussig, Rebecca Solnit, Jane Bennet, Antonin Artaud...

I strongly identify as an American when it comes to my musical tastes in general, but Fleetwood Mac is my favorite.

Artists: Ana Mendieta, Julie Ault, Janet Cardiff, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Lucy Orta, Francis Alys

Teach, Learn, Share

Don't hold it in. Don't put it off.

Those are the only things my grandfather, who lives in a warehouse in Chicago and I've only met once, has ever said directly to me. I met him for about an hour a few years ago and he didn't even seem to understand that I was his granddaughter, but her sure did a fair amount of talking about his commune, his work, his projects, etc. I still think he's right, though.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A desire to learn and grow together over good conversation with chamomile tea. I also really enjoy cooking large healthy meals to share with others. This is, in fact, my favorite thing to do and I will do it everyday if you ask.
