About Me

Journalist, Social Entrepreneur, CSR-Consultant - with the curiosity that drives new experiences. I love to share these experiences with beloved ones, may it be my son (16) or my partner.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and get beyond regular tourism traps. And because I've read a book on how doing couchsurfing in Iran turned out to having a great time.

Also, this seems to be an example of sharing economy that does not destroy the social contract. I'm keen to learn more by just doing it.

Currently, I'm planning a trip to Tel Aviv together with my 16y-old son. We are very interested to learn more about Israel and maybe help to build the growing TLV-BLN connection :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I appreciate most music, as there's a mood for everything - my partner even drags me into Opera once in a while (Tosca!), but in general I'm probably more of an indie-listener, from Björk over to Garbage to Radiohead, alt-J, Yo La Tengo, Feist, you get the picture :)

Films it's all Nouvelle Vague meeting New Hollywood, plus a now-and-then addiction to binge-watch some Netflix-stuff (really enjoyed Casa de Papel...).

As Laurie Anderson said: "I could write a book thick enough to stun an ox"... by writing about books (and films) I like and that left an impression on me. I'd rather do that in finding common books and connected experiences to share :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

travelled China (mainly Manchuria) for eight months in 1995 and wrote a book about this adventure. More over a beer or a wine.

in general: living in Berlin and experiencing an ever-changing landscape (and seeing my son growing up here)
