ABOUT ME
Attention span of a goldfish, want to do more, see more, learn more. Often will see an argument from all sides - to a fault. Get frustrated with inaction and people who are self centred. I use humour as self-defence. Genuinely love life and worry it will be too short. Happiest when with friends and sharing experiences. LOVE moments when you randomly connect with a stranger - try to provoke people to see how long/what it takes to make them smile. I am addicted to horseradish: try horseradish and jam sandwich/toast - you'll see I know what I'm talking about ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting and surfing, telling anyone who might be a good addition to the community about it... hope to do more - all ideas welcome
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Fantastic introduction and now committed addict. I have hosted and been hosted and met with folks for a quick catch up. I've even 'couchsurfed' by tent being taken in on someone's land when stuck for a place to stop.
Interests
The sea/coast - got to be in it/near it/by it/hear it/taste it... so why do I live so far inland? I call that peverse. Otherwise - global issues, environment, human rights, laughing whenever possible, film, photography, the ridiculous and anything spontaneous
- photography
- environment
- human rights
Music, Movies, and Books
too many to mention - come and stay and we can argue about it
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
being welcomed amd cared for by people who only had the borrowed clothes they were standing in.
Teach, Learn, Share
Keep a short note about strangers you've met. Over time the list can be astounding...
16 December
I shared lunch with a gardener who had once killed an old woman. He was solely upset he lost his gardening tools that were in the back of the van that killed her. Despite this I couldn't help but like him. I wish our conversation had disturbed me more.
February, Jamaica
- 'Burgher Boy' the taxi driver. Not fat as the name implies. Just the son of someone called Burgher. He can eat goat curry with a knife and fork while driving with his knees. He is kind and has a big laugh that rolls out of his mouth. He wanted absolution from strangers for a disasterous love-life but he "didn't steal the girl's shoes".
- The parakeet sisters... maybe friends, maybe sisters, twitering away like budgies or small birds. They talked as if hopping excitedly over each other from one branch to another backwards and forwards. Age is in the mind. Teenage sixty-year olds.
- David. Ex motorbike racer and light aircraft pilot/crop/forest fire sprayer. Self confessed practical addict. Now nurturing chilli seeds with the skill of a delicate heroin dealer sourcing quality and amounts that expand your head. Searching for a truck. Overly committed to anything. I wonder what's inside the silences that he avoids by talking all the time. Perhaps it's just there's a gap where engine noise and speed used to be. Kindness and thoughtfulness spills out of him.
