Bringing the aloha
CURRENT MISSION
To know the world with all its beautiful, curious and quirky people in it by exchanging stories, adventures, languages, new friendships and couches...next up visit Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Fiji and all amazing South Pacific islands in between!
ABOUT ME
Born in the desert, raised in the capital, studied in a cow town then on the Cote d'Azur, volunteered in the Sub-Saharan, taught in the Renaissance capital, got certified on an archipelago, roamed around my Celtic roots, and now meditate on the Pacific, study the Orient, dream of the Mediterranean, drove around the Antipodes, practice Middle Eastern kindness and Polynesian laidbackness and try to live an Irish lifestyle/attitude, while teaching Italian :) Went to Art/Grad School in Italy, ended up staying there for 8 years before making my way to SF...European zest for the good life mixed in with a Northern California spirit...and a bunch of other stuff. A kid at heart with an old soul. A city girl who lives at the beach, escapes in the mountains, explores the world, but has small-town values. Prefer quirky to mainstream, blunt to fake, closeness to distance, sunshine to fog...I'm eclectic in all ways...I have friends from 20-80 years old (age is only a number), I can go to the opera and a neighborhood pub on the same night, I own both stilettos and hiking boots, but prefer beach flip flops. I love Flight of the Concords just as much as intense, non-sensical French films, I've been known to have an Anchor Steam (local SF beer) and a glass of Sancerre at the same sitting, I can relax at the beach all day then go dancing all night, I love Sufi poetry just as much as Maz Jobrani, I can meditate quietly in the sun for hours or have long conversations all night over wine, I can camp in wilderness comfortably for weeks, but love the variety of city life, I mix cultures, cuisines and languages on a daily basis, I love my strong Italian espresso from my moka or a black Turkish coffee with my cezve just as much as a light Ceylon tea, I love anything from Persian 60's psychadelic music to French hip hop to Chopin to acoustic Bluegrass to...Spontaneity, sunshine, good conversation, sharing, being surrounded by green lushness, connecting to humanity, kindness and taking in all the simple pleasures are a must.
PHILOSOPHY
Aloha...The golden rule...Sufism...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Looking to see the world...and meet curious, adventurous, kind-hearted, hospitable, philosophical people along the way...in exchange, I'm open to offering the same.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I think the best experiences are human connections, seeing the world and getting out of your comfort zone.
Hosting surfers from all over the world has really been an enriching, humbling and beautiful experience that has taught me a lot and made me see the world through different perspectives. And it's a fun way to realize what a great place I live in.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Eclectic. Movies: Eclectic. Books: Eclectic. Me: Eclectic.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I fell down the train tracks, passed out, split open my head, bit a hole through my lip, got yelled at by the doctor for not having my international insurance card with me and broke up with my boyfriend all in the same day...but still got back on the train to go out dancing in Roma the same night!...not amazing, but this tells you what kind of person I am. You can hear the rest when we exchange travel stories in person.
Teach, Learn, Share
Can teach Italian, English, Photography and I make the best cappuccino this side of Italia! I want to learn everything (especially languages, authentic cooking, new live music, and new sports-given my broken knee from skydiving injury will permit :)
