About Me

I'm a lost college graduate, deciding on what to do with my life and trying out new things during the process. I try to keep my interests as wide open as possible, and allow myself to be fascinated by anything, regardless of how strange it may seem. I'm equally comfortable sipping tea and discussing books or watching an MMA fight in a bar.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see new places, try new things, and meet new people. Most importantly, in my experience, traveling is much more rewarding when you can meet locals from the area you are visiting.

Interests

I'm pretty into art and drawing and like to spend days off in a cafe sketching. I've also been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a year now and am pretty hooked. I like weightlifting and am considering trying out powerlifting soon.

I'm down for most doing almost anything if the company I'm with is fun, from tough hikes to drunken arcade games to boozy brunch.

I like good movies and music.

I also love cooking and learning about new cuisines for others. It's a skill I want to develop and I can definitely be a helpful partner in the kitchen. I also love coffee and tea and I used to be a barista!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: David Bowie, Belle and Sebastian, The National, LCD Soundsystem, Silver Jews, and lots more. I'm really interested in hearing new kinds of music!

Movies: Roshomon, Robocop, Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, the Room, Hero, In the Mood for Love,

Books: Heart of Darkness, Catch 22, Crime and Punishment, Lolita, Red Sorghum,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered at an inn in the Chinese village of Hongcun for a few weeks in the summer of 2013. My first week there coincided with the Persied meteor showers. There were no lights in the village at night and darkness for miles in all directions. I laid on top of the pool table outside with some travelers coming through the area and watched the shooting stars for hours. Though I was pretty beat the next morning when I had to get up and get back to work, it was definitely worth it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've got beginners weightlifting and jiu jitsu tips! I can teach you how to make a paper boat (pretty crafty, I know) or I could even teach you how to insult someone's mother in Chinese.

I would love a yoga lesson, to be honest. Also kind of want to learn how to make cocktails. Honestly, I'm open to learning all sorts of things.

I can share my drawings if you can share your music. I also like discussing history and humanity and the world. I love sharing ideas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share recipes and help make food. I know how to make a martini and am gradually expanding my meager bar tending knowledge. I'm stronger than I look and can at the very least carry your groceries (I kind of love visiting grocery stores in the places I'm visiting).
