Overview
About Me
I am a 64 year old retiree on Social Security Retirement. I have spent my entire working life as a contractual consultant and productionist in many different capacities, primarily in advertising, public relations and promotions. I was a professional photographer for many years. Now, photography is my most loved hobby. I am a musician, song writer and singer. My wife, Amanda, and I have the interesting distinction of being, perhaps, couch surfers w the greatest age difference. She is 37 and I am 64. That's a 27 year difference and yet no difference at all. I may also have the distinction of being the oldest couch surfer on couchsurfing.com. I really prefer to hang w younger people since people my age tend to be a bit, well, they have the mind set of an older person. While people my age are preparing to die I am living life as if I was 20. I'm sure a lot of people my age say under their breath "Why doesn't he grow up?" My response to that is "Why should I?"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My wife, Amanda, and I love to travel. We enjoy seeing new places, experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. I love the History Channel and the Discovery channel. I'm addicted to documentaries on just about anything. Being retired and couch surfing gives me the opportunity to see in real life everything I have only seen on television and read about in magazines. Staying w locals gives me a real, uncolored insight into what the culture and people are really like where I am visiting. I find that to be the most fascinating thing about couch surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like pretty much everything from classical to speed metal w a few exceptions. I'm not a big fan of country, rap or hip hop. My favorite artists are The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Cocteau Twins, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Boz Scaggs, Collective Efforts, Genesis, Goldfrapp, Led Zeppelin, Stratovarius, The Eagles.
Movies: I prefer adventure, science fiction and comedy. Oddly, I like some teen films and chick flicks too. My favorite director is Luc Besson. My favorite film scorers are Jerry Goldsmith and Eric Serra. My favorite movies are Blade Runner, The Breakfast Club, Fox Fire, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Femme Fatale, Nymphomaniac, Altered States, Sin City, Medicine Man, The Professional, Indiana Jones series.
Television: I stick pretty much w documentaries and English comedies…pretty much. My favorite channels are the History. Discover Science and Travel channels. My favorite series are The X-Files, Skins, Are You Being Served, Breaking Bad, The Office and Ancient Aliens. I despise reality TV and the news.
Books: I seldom read books because I have extreme dyslexia. I’ve read perhaps 20 books in my life. However, what I have read and enjoyed was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the most amazing thing I've done was to be born. That just boggles my mind.
Aside from that I think the most impressive thing I've done was my unusual production of a song I wrote in 1974 entitled "Lost In The Wax". I recorded the song that same year with myself on rhythm guitar and vocals along with Kevin Sterner on bass guitar and vocals and Joe Hogan on drums. Unfortunately, the unfinished work was devoid of the style of lead guitar I wanted which simply wasn't available to me at the time. As a result I shelved the project indefinitely.
In 2009, I heard Michael Krizanovski on OurStage and immediately knew that his unique style was exactly what I had originally envisioned for "Lost In The Wax". I contacted Michael and asked if he would be interested in working with me to finish the song. Michael enthusiastically agreed. 35 years later, Michael completed the piece with his award-winning guitar work.
Michael lived in Kraznodar Russia and spoke not a word of English and I not a word of Russian. Despite language barriers and never having met or spoken to each other, we succeeded by using the internet and digital technology throughout the entire collaboration process. To my knowledge, this type of long distance collaboration had never been done before.

Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn everything I can about my host, how they live their daily lives and the culture in which they live. I can help a host if they are learning guitar, wanting to get into photography or many of the other arts.
What I Can Share with Hosts
What I can bring to the table is a plethora of interesting conversation if they are interested. I am knowledgeable in a multitude of things. This is not because I’m a great intellect. It’s just one of the benefits of being 64 and having experienced so many things in life. Additionally, I am a very loving and compassionate person who is willing to help anyone who needs that type of help.
