My name is Trace! I grew up in Oklahoma and went to college at Oklahoma State University. I earned a Bachelors in History with a minor in Ancient and Medieval Studies. While in college, I studied abroad at the National University of Ireland, Galway for 5 months. After that, I did a student exchange at the University of Washington in Seattle.

When I moved back from Seattle to Oklahoma, I joined the workforce. However, I wasn't happy with what I was doing so I returned to my long-held dream of teaching abroad. I received my TEFL certification in 2016 and have been living in Japan for a year and a half! I’ll be leaving Japan near the end of April.

I want to experience everything the world has to offer. I do my best to always take life as it comes, be spontaneous, travel often, and not take life too seriously.

Since I’ve been living in rural Japan, I haven’t had a chance to host anyone. I’d love to do so in the future when I live somewhere more populated. So, stay tuned.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling. However, one of the best things about traveling is meeting local people and immersing oneself in the culture. Connecting with people from different places around the world is always a joyous, exciting, and refreshing experience that couch surfing makes possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an avid reader.
My favorite book series are Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling), Song of Ice and Fire (George R.R. Martin), Lord of the Rings (J.R. Tolkien), and The Kingkiller Chronicles (Patrick Rothfuss).

I like almost all genres of music, especially if it is live music! Some of my favorites are Gorillaz, The Strokes, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino, Anderson .Paak, Brian Jonestown Massacre, etc.

Of course, I love the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies. Some other favorites are Moulin Rouge, Goodwill Hunting, The Big Lebowski, My Neighbor Totoro, Donnie Darko, There Will Be Blood, Gladiator, etc.
