ABOUT ME

Wow, a whole blank box just for me! Well, at twenty four I was made redundant from my job in the publishing world, so I hit the road and decided to travel for as long as humanly possible. When I turned 25 I was stood on the Great Wall of China and when I turn 26 I'll be somewhere inspirational in the island nation of Indonesia. I have a real passion for people, a real difficulty in learning languages and a real love of Skittles. As I glide around the world I write a travel blog (www.trailofants.com), my style of travel is a slow stride that I recently compared to the wild orangutan of Sumatra.

I love to cook, but have no kitchen. I love the English countryside, but I'm in Asia. I love movies, but have no TV. I love to read, but don't own a bookshelf. I love my mates, but (usually) travel alone. I'm a kid at heart, in the few days you'll know me you'll be hard pushed to peel back the jovial skin and see the real me but you'll see my zest for life while I stretch my, arrr, feet out on your couch. I'm joking. I won't really put my feet on your beloved couch, OK! I'll sit like a perfect gent and listen to stories about your cousins wedding.

PHILOSOPHY

Once upon a time, in an autumnal England I was sat aboard a bus. As it slowed to a stop, an old woman staggered passed me and stopped to say "life's not a rehearsal", she walked away without saying another word and ever since I have heeded her soft words of advice because she's right. I bet she never bought a ticket the little devil.

As I'm travelling I can't really offer my couch up but hopefully when I've refluffed your cushion you'll accept my email in case you're in my neck of the woods one day, at the same time obviously or you won't be able to get in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CouchSurfed in a Chinese mountain village; I've CouchSurfed in the wrong house; I've CouchSurfed in a tent with 3 Austrians and a couple of Mongolians; I've CouchSurfed beside complete strangers; I've CouchSurfed in my own house. Not through the site, just in life in general.

兴趣

Writing and photography are a great passion of mine, they battle with my love of football, food and travel. I appreciate people who use their talent, or at least strive to.

Wow, so much! People are often astounded that I write, but my 'love' of reading only developed after heading out on this RTW trip (at 24). Since then, I'd say my favorite book is Kafka on the Shore by Murakami. Movies, well, I've devoured plenty of those in my time. It would be rude to say. My music collection is mostly a result of begging, stealing and borrowing. I don't buy much music, but listen to a lot.
