About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To accept the transient nature of all things and learn to live more fully in the present
ABOUT ME
I'm never happier than when I'm sharing a drink and some laughs with good people! I like the feel of the sun on my skin, the open road, a tasty meal, and a good book.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't know much of anything for sure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've found safe shelter and met good friends using CouchSurfing in my own travels, and had the pleasure to host a few surfers myself. I haven't met a single person through CS that I didn't like, and I can't wait to meet more people in the community as I travel west again this summer!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first experience with Couchsurfing took place in Calgary, Alberta. My friend and I were hitchhiking across Canada filming a travel documentary and thought maybe we could set up some interviews with like minded locals through the website. We were asking to meet people for a beer or coffee and pick their brains, and instead got an invite to attend a CS event at Steeps Tea House where we could get a feel for the Calgary Couchsurfing community and maybe set up an interview or two for another day. As soon as we arrived, I was floored by how welcoming, generous, and sincere these people were. We talked with the Calgary Couchsurfers for hours, then joined a bunch of them in going to a potluck where we had an amazing time meeting even more people and enjoying a heartfelt acoustic set. I remember walking towards where we were staying afterwards and gushing with excitement for the remainder of our trip. We knew we'd stumbled upon something special. Over the following weeks we used Couchsurfing a number of times. Sometimes just to meet new people for a drink, other times to surf couches. Every time we were taken aback by how hospitable, and amazing our new friends were! It's a community that can really restore your faith in humanity

Music, Movies, and Books
I have pretty eclectic tastes in movies, music, and books. I love watching everything from an enlightening documentary to the most brainless horror film. One day I feel like listening to folk, the next day you may catch me whipping my hair back and forth to some metal, or shaking my tail to something dancey. I'm an English literature major but I'm down to get lost in a nerdy fantasy novel.
Vague enough?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hitchhiked from Ontario to Whitehorse and back with one of my best friends. Despite a touch of adversity, and a number of people telling us we'd never make it in our timeframe, we persevered and made it to the land of the midnight sun!
