About Me

I'm a graduate student who's passionate about traveling.

Because of my current housing situation, I'm sorry to announce that I can't accept guests until next year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always loved traveling. I have been to 24 states in the U.S., but I haven't heard of this website until my friend Vladimir introduced to me. From what I see so far, I think Couchsurfing is a really cool way to travel and learn about new cultures.

More importantly, I'm visiting western Europe in the summer and hope to create some nice memories there.

Interests

I'm interested in a bit too many things: hiking, running, playing the piano, the guitar, training in Aikido, wakeboarding, water skiing (I would love to learn to snow ski but I haven't had a chance to do so.)

Recently, I'm learning a lot more about bioinformatics, cognitive psychology, and behavioral economics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like almost all kinds of music (except techno and rap). Recently I listen to a lot of old-time jazz, ragtime, some classical, some modern stuff that come on the radio like Uptown Funk, All About that Bass, etc. I also appreciate good country music.

Books: I try to make myself read more scientific stuff lately, but I'm still a sucker for romance novels like Guillaume Musso's or Marc Levy's. You can find me and my online library at https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/9136579-grixor

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once hiked 22 miles in a day. Six of those miles were under four feet of snow.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm currently teaching Precalculus at my school as part of my assistantship. I have also been a tutor for most of my college life.

I love learning new things, and almost anything, from anthropology to psychology, from economics to mathematics.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- I can cook you Vietnamese food, as long as you have fish sauce in the house.
- I can sing along Beatles songs with you.
- We can have exciting conversations about psychology, economics, neuroscience, etc. or even my research.
- You can teach me how to enjoy beer. I still haven't found them tasty.
- I can practice French with you (I'm a very beginning learner though)
- I can show you some Aikido moves to self-defense
