Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Photographing, Dancing, Sporting, Eating. Staying Alive ;D

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon in Granite, Utah. Growing up in the Wasatch, I've been in love with mountains and the outdoors from a young age. I graduated from Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo) in June of '09 as an Art & Design major with a concentration in photography. I hope to take the next year (or six) off working at ski resorts in both hemispheres, and then possibly attending graduate school if I figure it is worth it. I super enjoy DIY (do it yourself) projects, and support the idea of Transition Towns (if you haven't heard of that check this out: http://transitionculture.org/essential-info/why-transition-culture/ ).

PHILOSOPHY

Figure out a way to achieve greater equality for people of the world, live in closer harmony with what supports us (aka the earth et al); all while creating a replacement for industrial capitalism. Does that work? Maybe not, but that's all I got right now.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first joined so I could travel to Detroit to take photographs for my senior project. Through the process of trying to find someone, a girl we were going to stay with ended up being out of town but hooked us up with one of her friends that wasn't even on couchsurfing. It ended up being super radical, and a very positive experience. Couchsurfing is so special because by staying with locals of an area, you get a much more authentic feel for a place you visit than if you were to just stay in a hotel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Exploring abandoned Detroit, and hanging out with some friendly Europeans passing through San Luis Obispo.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I was fortunate enough to travel to Nepal and Tibet in the summer of 06, and the experience was (obviously) life altering. It was the first time I had been to a third world country and it really opened my eyes to how a large portion of the world's population lives. We were able to travel to Mt. Kailash and circumambulate it. The highest pass was 18,500 ft. and breathing was very difficult. It was awesome though.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can definitely help one learn about cameras, various computer programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, DreamWeaver, and a few more to a lesser degree. I have some knowledge of Appropriate Technologies and various other sustainable living practices that I could share. Possibly provide you with some tasty musical sampling. Show you how to snowboard if we happen to be near a snow covered hill. Juggle a soccer ball...

I would like to learn about practical life skills (carpentry, sewing, crocheting, etc.), raw foods diets, how to do sports/activities that I haven't done yet.
