Hey y’all, River here!
I’ve always loved traveling and exploring new places around the world, and have so much more to see! I love the exploring the outdoors, listening to and playing music, creating art, and I am always up for an adventure, whether it be out in the wild or just in the city! I love working with and riding horses, and am a huge animal lover in general. I just sold most of my material possessions to go explore New Zealand and Australia from a backpack!

I believe in treating others how you would be treated, always lending a hand to those in need, and always being willing to try something new!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have found that I have more genuine connections and experiences while staying with locals than I do staying in traditional accommodation. I love this community because it also enables those who can’t quite afford to travel ‘in style’, to see more of the world! I have made some of the best friends and met the most incredible people through this website. I have hosted several people at my home and was hosted on an adventure across continental Europe 10 years ago. I’m hoping to meet lots of new and amazing people on my Southern Hemisphere adventures! I can't wait to have my own place again so that I can go back to hosting, and giving back to the incredible community here!

Interests

I enjoy hiking, riding bikes, concerts, reading, drinking coffee, walking around the city, eating food, cooking, taking pictures, playing and listening to music, hanging out with friends, yoga, riding horses, making art, etc! I’m always down to try new things too! I'm currently on a mission to find a remote job in Marketing(or something similar) so that I can work as I travel and have been taking Google courses to expand my knowledge base and experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music and reading so much there is no way that making even a small list would describe my taste! I love learning from anyone who is willing to teach me something! Some fave music genres are psych rock, house, rock and roll , indie, dark wave/goth, 80s, anything synthy, pop, you name it! Just got a kindle so that my book collection can come with me :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The red rock of southern Utah leaves me breathless and awestruck no matter how much time I spend there, it is my sacred land :D
I am also in love with New Zealand, I went on a road trip in a camper with my sister in March and it was my favorite country I’ve ever visited!
Finally jumped out of a plane in Queenstown, and can't wait to do it again.
Skinny dipped in Lake Zurich late at night with a group of people I met at the bar! 😅

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a pretty good cook, can make you excellent cocktails, teach you art stuff, or just be some good company! Always happy to do the washing up from meals or help you around the house if you need a hand, especially if I'm staying a little longer.
