About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make new friends and meet other like minded travelin folks
ABOUT ME
I'm easy going and can get along with just about anyone. I don't smoke and I am not a big partier but I am a social drinker. I love to travel and simply enjoy checking out the sites. I especially like nature and hiking.
PHILOSOPHY
As long as your alive, you might as well live. There are those who think about doing and those who do. I believe it is important to live life now. It's generally not a good idea to put things off for too long because interests change as you get older. Living your dreams isn't always as difficult and one might think. Life can be such a cool adventure if you allow it to be.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm happy to show people around when at home but am not able to host right now. My single room apartment is too small. I keep intending to move to a larger place but I prefer to save money for travel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My experience with couchsurfing is limited but it's all been very positive. For my next trip I would like meet more people through the site.
Interests
International travel is a passion for me but I have many interests. Hiking, running, cross country skiing, playing guitar, sailing, writing, antiques, etc. etc.... I really enjoy meeting new people and sharing interesting stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like documentaries and biographies. For me, truth is much more interesting than fiction. However, it is fun to get lost in a Hollywood movie every now and then. The last book I read was about Habits and how we get caught up doing the same thing over and over again without even thinking about it. I am currently reading "The Girl With Seven Names" which is about a woman who defected from North Korea. I like all kinds of music but don't much care for rap.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine at the age of 19 has probably had the most profound affect on my life. I often joke that I never really got off the trail.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think now more than ever it's important that people actually communicate with one another in person. Especially people of different cultures and nationalities. Social media is great for things like couchsurfing that help people meet up in real life. However, I believe that other forms of social media, such as Facebook, have a tendency to dilute the quality of relationships and foster more misunderstandings than anything. I've been to nearly 50 different countries and have interacted with the poorest of the poor, the richest of the rich, and all of the in-between. I believe it's given me a better ability to not only connect with people but to more fully understand all sides of an issue.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've been to plenty of places and have lots of stories. I am happy to help out with things around your place while visiting. I also have a blog but it gets kind of quiet when I'm not traveling. www.worldtravelerandthinker.com
